Star Trek
Star Trek, is one of my favorite shows. It depicts the adventures of four differant captains, depending on which one you watch.
All you Trekkies out there can skip the first section and go to the next section.
A Brief Star Trek Background
There are four differant Star Treks, (and it is Trek not Trak) The original, ("ST" for short) Star Trek: The Next Generation, (ST:TNG) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, (DS9) and Star Trek: Voyager (just "Voyager"). These shows depict the stories of differant crews of starships (starbase in DS9's case) and their adventures. ST and ST:TNG are based on the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Though they are two differant ships. The original depicts the very first Enterprise, while ST:TNG depicts the Enterprise-D. Obviously We're missing a few Enterprise's, yet the shows don't go into these ships with much detail. DS9 is about a starbase (DS9, obviously) that is near a wormhole. (for those that need that term expained, hit the hyperstext) The wormhole leads to a place callled the "Gamma Quadrant" where few, if any, ships have ever gone, before now. (Now is a relative term, in this case, I'm talking according to the Star Trek time line.) And, finally, Voyager is about the crew of the starship - yup, you guessed it - Voyager. The Voyager was lost in action just after it was launched. Though the Federation (or UFP, which is United Federation of Planets. The UFP is kinda like the United Nations, only it's between planets.) doesn't know that they are alive, only lost in the "Delta Quadrant", where no federation ship has ever been before because it's almost all the way across the galaxy. Whew! There ya' go, a very, very, very, brief background "report" on Star Trek.
In my oppinion, Star Trek is the best show that ever aired. (If you've read my X Files page, you might think I'm contradictiong myself, but the X Files is my currentfavorite.) Though, sadly, they took ST and ST:TNG off the air. DS9 isn't too bad, but I'm just not too crazy about Voyager. My favorite episode of ST:TNG is The Best of Both Worlds, Part's I and II. For the begginner trekkies, that is the episode where the borg abduct Captain Picard and bring him into their collective consciousness. They head toward Earth, presumably to conquer or destroy it. They are met at Wolf 359 by an armada of 40 Federation and Klingon vessels, 39 of which are destroyed. The only one left is, of course, the Enterprise. The Enterprise personell are able to recapture Picard and use his borg programming to send a self-destruct order into the borg ship.
If you'd like to ask me any Trek questions, I'll be glad to try and answer them. Or if you'd like to give some Trek input or a similer item. You can reach me at: rubald@tcd.net I do consider myself a trekkie, but I don't know it all, so don't ask me any really obscure questions. For that, I would suggest checking out the TREKreations page. (You can find the link on my linkspage.)
