25th of November 97` was the date I joined IDF (Israeli Defense Forces)where I serve in the combat lines(Im writing this as I served 2 years allready).
I been through hard trainings, once in a life time experiances, action and other things that your mind associates with the army, but I've also been suffering from lack of freedom, and been caought in a system that depresses my character.
Despite all the things and the fact that the army can sometimes bump with my idiologies I dont regret it, I understand Israel's need for our army and I do my duty in peace with my mind.
There are lots of myths around the Israeli army... and here are some facts about one of Israel's wars where it can show where the myths come from.
The 6 days war is considered to be one of the 3 most amazing victories in history.(the other two victories were in 1757 and 1415...)
In June 1967 IDF carried out a prevention strike against the countries that gathered forces to attack Israel (Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq).
The Arab ground forces were 328000 compared to the Israeli forces that were 250000.
The number of tanks that the Arabs had was 2330 while Israel had only 1000.
In the Air the balance was even more to the favor of the arabs: they had 628 airplanes and Israel had 286.
The Israeli Air Force took the the ariel initiative and destroied the Arab Air Forces. Israel gained Air superiority.
In the end of the war the Arabs had 18000 casualties, lost 1000 tanks and 450 airplanes.
Israel had 5500 casualties, 400 tanks lost and 40 Airplanes.
Israel took over the Golan heights, Sinai (an area 3 times bigger than Israel. Israel returned it to Egypt in 1979 for a peace treaty)and other territories such as getting back Jerusalem its capital.
The Soviets helped the Arabs and lost some Migs in dog fights with Israeli pilots without a loss by the Israeli side.
My uncle told me he could heard in the battles he took part calls in the russian language, and some fathers of friends of mine returned home with soviet helmets.
NOTICE: I dont have a personal problem with Arabs, if your an arab and see me as an Imperialist pig (like alot of arab leaders try to draw Israel as) you can forget about it, im pro peace, I have leftist point of vies, but I have a problem with the ammount of fanaticism in the Arab nations.
