A man for 33 years, God forever, Jesus stepped into time and space so we could follow Him back into eternity and infinity. The Reason? Love! That's why God created us in the first place -- to have a love relationship with Him forever!
Why did Jesus have to get involved? Problem: sin... You know the story. The Great Tainting of human nature hit our original progenitors hard, changing the course of mankind's relationship with God forever. God is 'holy' -- pure in every way. Sin is what makes something 'unholy' -- sin brings impurity... (think of the center of a dartboard...) And because of God's innate holy nature, anything unholy that comes into His presence would be destroyed -- sort of like exposing film to sunlight. Thus God's dilemma -- the very beings He loves and wants to be with are alienated from Him by their tainted nature -- their sin.
Solution: Jesus! This is how it affects you: Jesus' sacrificial death purifies any soul who accepts His sacrifice for what it is... "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16)Get that?
Believing in Jesus is all you need to do to get right with God!
Many people are under the impression that they can work their own way into right standing with God -- as if there's this huge scale, and all your badness is piled on one side, and all your goodness on the other, and if the scale tips in your "good" favor, you're in.But it is just not that way -- this is one point the Bible is so clear on, you have to work very hard to make it say something else. Only by your personal belief in Jesus, that His sacrificial death alone purified your sin, can you assume you're all right with God and have assurance of eternal life in Him.You see, God did all the work that needs to be done. There is no 'work' you can perform to get yourself right with God --
"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves,It is so pure and simple that its almost hard to believe: there is no amount of good, outward acts you can perform that will gain you any merit with God.
You need a clean slate, and there's only one God-given way to get that -- to believe in and receive the sacrifice He made for you. (For a further discussion on Works and Chrisitianity, click here)
If you haven't already, I invite you to do it now! -- Tell God any way you know how that you believe in the sacrifice He made for you, that you receive His forgiveness for your sins, and that you thank Him for His gifts of abundant life now, and eternal life to come. The Book says if you believe in Jesus and receive Him into your heart, you're in like Flynn!
