Ultrann floats
over the Pit, observing the combatants making their
way towards the field, and the crowds yelling and cheering.
He takes he seat at the judge's observation area. "Ah,
there's nothing like a good holy war!", he says.
He smiles and says to Torgal, "It is said by some
that you are either for terror or against terror. I
say sometimes it is best not to favour one over the
other, and let the cards fall as they may. And so if
these two holy warriors wish to please their gods, Horus
for Ackeron or Bane for Craningar Rue, then they will
summon any terror necessary to defeat their enemy."
With that, he signals Torgal to open the gates.
Young Ackeron acts first, walking towards his enemy
chanting, "Horus! Bring creatures of vengeance
to aid me!!" With that, three fiendish dire rats
appear up ahead and rush towards his enemy. They attempt
to bite at him, but recoil as if faced by their natural
enemy, fire. Meanwhile, Craningar advances, calling
on Bane to aid him. A mystical battle axe appears
in front of Ackeron, swinging and missing.
Ackeron, while dismayed by his rat's inability to
harm his opponent, continues to move forward. He calls
on Horus, and a mystical bastard sword appears in
front of his enemy, but it misses. Craningar continues
his advance (ignoring the inept rats and the air-sword),
yelling, "Bane! Bind my opponent!!". Suddenly
Ackeron freezes in his tracks, unable to move. While
his spirit-weapon continues to attack the evil cleric
(missing), he can do nothing else. Craningar bellows
an evil laugh, approaches and hits his target, causing
a minor wound. Fear wells in Ackeron's eyes, and his
spiritual weapon cannot help him. Craningar raises
his battle axe, calls his dark lord's name, and splits
his opponent from chops to knaves.
