Well, you know. Consider what would happen if the Dregs was X. (okay, 
Mulder and Scully would be dead.. let's idealise ol' Dregsy a little and 
assume he can keep them alive). Who do you think he'd hang around to give 
information to? ;)

(Dregx walks into Scully's apartment)

"Agent Scully! The Knicks won on the weekend."
"I see."

(Dregx leaves)

(5 minutes later, Dregx walks back in)

"Agent Scully, I have some vital information for you which could be all 
that stands between you and death..."
"Yes?"
"Never run with scissors."
"Get out of my apartment."
