Subject: REL: Gillian Anderson Appreciation Day. <g> From: Holly Alexander <holly@ariel.its.unimelb.edu.au> Date: Fri, 9 Aug 1996 10:58:50 +1000 Organization: The University of Melbourne To celebrate Ms. Anderson's 28th birthday in the right way, simply join me in these simple steps: - watch "Irresistible" five times. Rewind and rewatch the scene with the psychologist ("I don't want him to feel that he has to protect me") another five times. Repeat this action at intermittant intervals during all of GA's powerful scenes. - watch "Beyond the Sea" *ten* times. Marvel at such brilliant acting. Sigh as Scully tries to deal with her father's death. Gasp at that wonderful scene after Mulder has been shot ("If he dies, no one is going to stop me from being the one to flick the switch and gas you out of this life for good, you SON OF A BITCH!"). Sniff at the final line - "he was my father." - Read once more about her tough stance regarding her pregnancy. Admire the strength of such a positive role model for all women. <g> (Oh, and don't forget the all-important line: "I want to BEEEEEE Scully/Gillian" <bg>). - Watch that cringe-inducing interview with KAK. Laugh at KAK's feeble attempts to convince our Gillian that she is a *huge* fan of the show. Applaud loudly as Gillian handles the "Dana" appellation with aplomb. - Reread the Green (or other) Guide detailing GA's nomination for an Emmy for best actress in a drama. Cross your fingers and send your "win" vibes across the ocean. - And finally, kneel in front of your "Gillian-shrine" (consisting of some blurry photos from her Australian appearances, a Tooms cover with a scrawled signature and that FHM) and pray to the gods to keep her and her family safe and well. That should do. :) Holly.
