Silver's Alter

Poems of Love and Victory

Limerick

With shining sword and armor bright
He wandered far in fabled hills
Her face, his only guiding light
That led him through the daffodils

Undaunted tears crept to his eyes
As he recalled their last goodbyes
her parting gift had touched his heart
an alloyed sword, iron in part

A monstrous limb detaching piece
with nasty curves and blade that gored
oh how romantic it had been
just him and her and hulking sword

She'd told him 'bother not return'
if fame and fortune find you not'
oh how her love for him did burn
with searing flame that burnt so hot

And so they'd parted each their way
with bleary eyes and muttered oaths
with him in search of glory, fame and her in search of money clothes

So he returned with dullen sword and armor nicked and rusted brown to
her in wedlock with dear john, the wealthy banker of the town
