Obi-Wan Kenobi's Light saber
 Star Wars: A New Hope

This light saber replica was not milled, turned on a lathe, or otherwise machined.  The parts are either pre existing or custom made, and with the exception of the "motorcycle handle," it is 100% aluminum.  Explore this site and see how to make one for yourself.  Please Note:  This site is currently under construction; however, I will be updating this page several times a week until it is complete.
What's New?
9/26/99
I added the midsection today.
I also wanted to say a few words about the purpose of this site. I've had a lot of people emailing me recently, asking if I can do this for them or do that for them. As much as I like helping out people, this page is about all I have time for. I cannot build any sabers, any parts of the saber, or order things for anyone. I wish that I had time for this sort of thing, but as it is, I am over extending myself. I hope you'll understand.

Also, I was hoping I wouldn't have to say this, but I feel it's necessary due to the overwhelming amount of questions I've had lately. This site is merely the way I built the OB1-replica; it's not THE way to build it. What I did worked for me, but it's possible it might not work for you; in which case you'll need to be a little more creative. I will help out where I can. If I hear about better ways to do certain things, then I'll be more than happy to update where necessary. For example, I have it on good authority that the "faucet knobs" used for the original saber might be available for a reasonable price. As soon as I can verify this is true, I'll tell you where, when, how, etc. More to come...

Today, I finally added the section on how to build the faucet knob. I've had a lot of requests for this over the past two days, so... here it is.

I added the measurements section today. Though there isn't much to it, I thought it would be pretty important at the beginning of construction to know the general size of everything. Okay, more tomorrow.

I added the Emitter section today. More to come...
What's Missing?
You might have noticed a few things missing:
  • Emitter's outer-most lip
  • Cross grooves on the "motorcycle handle"
  • Detail inside the activation box
  • D-Ring assembly
I hope to have these (and a few other unnamed items) fixed by next week.

Suggestions:
This site is brand-spanking new, and if you have any suggestions then feel free to send me an email.  Also, if you decide to build this saber and discover a better way constructing a certain piece (or even just make a simple improvement) then I'll be more than happy to publish your ideas here.

Thanks to Project Graflex, which has inspired a multitude of light saber replicas... including the one you see on this page.
