Dangerous Crossing is one of the favorite original Tribes maps that's still being played. There's chances to use every armor and technique in Tribes on this map.
Above is a shot of one of the two bases on DC. This shot is from above and behind the base and it shows the two entrance and exit routs for the base. The green circle is the base plasma turret. Respect this killer!! Attack path 1: This is the most used path for attacking the base with the intent of capturing the flag. This route must be defended well as it's also the exit path. A portable turret at the top can help out a lot but guarding is the best way to take care of this route. Attack path 2: This path is a bit
more dangerous to attempt but if you're defending it should be guarded
also. To successfully get the flag using this path you need to be
a good flyer, have a full or almost full health bar, have enough energy
to fly through there very fast, and be carrying a repair kit. The
two turrets in Pic #3 will hit you on your way through to get the
flag and on your way out!
When using Attack path 1 from Pic #1 this is the view that you'll get before dropping down into the base. You can either drop a couple grenades down from here to take out portable turrets and their Inventory and Ammo stations. You can also use a grenade launcher, aim at the "X"'s and accomplish the same thing. To get the flag you need to drop right on it and then jump and fly out immediately before the indoor terrets (Pic #3) get you. If you have enough time you can jump in on the flag and just stand there until the indoor turrets (they only fire at moving things) retract then fly out.
Those two turrets can really chew you up in short order. More likely than not you'll have to hit your Repair Kit on the way out the door.
These two valleys are great for skiing. If you've got the flag then you can almost always get away if you ski down and out. A flag capture can be recorded in less than a minute if you ski and ski well!! DC is a snipers dream since the main part of the playing field is vallied by the surrounding hills. There's just too many sniping spots along the flanks to list. The most vulneralbe areas are the flanks of the bases. This is
where you attack and this is where the defense HAS to be. Remember!
They can't win if they can't CAP!
