When I was a child I had an aquarium with a few Green Anoles in it. They didn't last too long due to what I now know was improper care. I missed them when they were gone but didn't get any more of them until a couple years ago. I found Stick in a pet store near Clarksburg, WV. Stick is a Green Anole that is about six inches long. He got his name because of his habit of staying on one stick that is in his home. He lives in an aquarium that I transformed into a planted terrarium.

Drake is a Collared Lizard. He's got a personality all his own. His main activity is chasing down crickets and eating as many as he can at one time. Drake's been living with us for about a year and a half now. He's friendly enough for a lizard and doesn't bite unless eats feeding time and he mistakes your finger for a cricket. I bought him here in Fairmont, WV.

Our latest addition is Hermie.  She is a Leopard Gecko.  A beautiful specimen I might add.  She is a very peaceful lizard that never bites.  She lives in a terrariium (planted with Jade plants) next to our computer.  Her home is an upside down terracotta clay bowl.  We see her when she is hunting and at night.  The rest of the time she's in her home.  Hermie was partial payment for a PC repair that I did some months back.

Saying goodbye...

Drake stopped eating for some time and then died on 9-6-98.  We don't know exactly what happened but he just didn't want to eat.  Since we were never able to determine the life span of a collard lizard in captivity we are assuming that he had either gotten sick in some way or was old and died of natural causes.  We'll miss the little guy.

Stick was the first pet that me and my fiancee got together.  Close to 8 years ago we brought this little lizard into our home and our lives.  He was quite long lived, much longer than I thought that Anoles could live.  He was a groovy little guy.   He'd sit on his stick or clay pot, watching for a cricket to come by and become lunch or display is bright orange throat flap.  Amazingly enough he could put away several crickets per feeding.  We always wondered where he stuffed them.  He lived a lot longer with us that he would've in the wild, he'd gotten very thin towards the end.  Of course, like Drake, in the end he just stopped eating.  I guess they know when their time's come to go.  We miss ya, Stick.  Stick died on June 23rd, 2000.
