Changeling: The Cambria Chronicles
The term "Secret History" refers to "extra-curricular"
notes taken by players during the game sessions of various campaigns run and played
by a group of friends in San Diego and Los Angeles. Some GMs in this loose affilation
of gamers take notes on their game sessions and publish these notes in our local
APA (Amateur Press Association), Mutations for the amusement of the readers
and as an aid for the players and the GMs. The game synopses on this web site were
first published in this fashion. Since our games heavily emphasize role-playing and
because we are a generally witty, imaginative, and crude group of people, the conversations
that take place around our games are often as interesting as what takes place in
the games themselves. Allison Lonsdale, a player in many of these games including
this one, began this tradition and is still the main recorder and publisher of this
collection of witticisms, bon mots, and smut. We've reproduced some of the best ones
by interweaving the comments into the game synopses where the comments occurred.
We've left out the ones involving local in-jokes, jokes about weird sexual practices
that would probably get us thrown out of Geocites, and rambling, 20 minute long digressions
about ganja-smoking Minnesota reggae bands. Enjoy!
One footnote: Toby the Redcap was originally run by Jeffry Bryson, who dropped out
of the game. Since Toby was too much fun to just cast off, we decided we would take
turns playing him. That's way some of the comments are attributed to Janet-as-Toby
or Marc-as-Toby and so on.
