The Trilogy Score

What would be Star Wars without its magnificent score? John Williams has supposedly been hired to write the music for the next trilogy... But in the meantime we can enjoy the actual trilogy's soundtrack in an almost complete format: the Star Wars Trilogy Anthology.

The "black box", released by 20th Century Fox (and distributed by Arista records) in 1993, contains 4 remastered CDs. There is one disc for each movie - and each CD contains certain previously unreleased tracks - while the fourth disc holds more unreleased music along with alternate versions of a number of tracks.

Here are the complete track listing of the Anthology's four compact discs.

Disc 1: Star Wars
Disc 2: The Empire Strikes Back
Disc 3: Return of the Jedi
Disc 4: Star Wars / Empire / Jedi

The Anthology is THE edition of the trilogy's soundtrack every fan must have. Then again, we now have access to the Special Editions' Soundtracks... which contains MORE previously unreleased tracks. Granted, the cover looks really cool, but just how many times do you expect to buy the same CD - plus or minus some minor details? The decision is up to you. Besides, you may be more of a completist than I am.
Personally I drew the line at the Anthology, which IS the ultimate "original trilogy" soundtrack.

New information about the prequels' score will be added as soon as it becomes available.
