Yes, Virginia. There was a Santa Claus at Sears in Richmond. The picture that you see to your right is a picture of Helen Schermerhorn, my cousin, and Linda Schermerhorn, my mom, posing for pictures with Truman Schermerhorn dressed as Santa! My grandfather loved to dress up as Santa Claus, and he loved kids.

The image to the left is my favorite picture of all. Edith Schermerhorn took this picture after I caught a fish in her pond in 1989. Granddaddy and I went fishing a lot. When we weren't fishing, we'd talk about fishing and baseball. (He loved reciting "Casey at the Bat"!) After I caught that whopper of a fish, he would always talk about how I caught it. Every time we talked, we'd talk about the next fishing trip. I miss him a lot.
