It was an interesting weekend. I found out my damn computer is still in the shop, almost a week now when they told me three days...needless to say I am *not* happy that I have no access beyond that at work. I sat down again to write on Sunday and nothing would flow...my pen simply cannot keep up with my brain anymore. Amazing how you become so technology dependent.
I have been totally mesmerized by "Much Ado About Nothing" at BAM. It was...brilliant. Absolutely one of the best productions of anything I've ever seen. What makes it even more special is that I found out Cheek By Jowl is going on extended sabbatical and this is the last show they are doing before that happens. Benedick and Beatrice were exactly what they should be and the play was funny when it was supposed to be and dramatic when it was supposed to be, often switching back and forth within scenes without confusing the audience. Every line, interpreted wonderfully. If you know the play and want to discuss specifics, email me! I am now even more anxious to try my hand at Beatrice than I was before, if that's possible.
Nick and Arnold were in "Godspell" and I saw it on Saturday night with Ken, Steve, and Sue...never thought I'd see Nick rapping but he was really good (in the show). And who knew Arnold could sing! Wow. But Jesus...stunk. Bad. And since Jesus is (duh!) the heart and soul of Godspell, a bad Jesus means the show just won't cut it, no matter how far the rest of the cast reaches. We start rehearsals for our "Godspell" in ten days. It's very probably the last time I'll ever perform with my friend Lauren...which is very sad...and we're singing the "By My Side" harmony together, and I have a feeling on closing night I'm going to bawl. On stage. Matthew is going to be wonderful as Jesus. He was last time. Yesterday was his birthday and we had the show choir kids scream (well, sing, but they can be obnoxious) Happy Birthday, and had cookie cake...
You know what? Anyone reading this must be pretty damn bored. If you're hanging in, hoping I'll get interesting, thanks. :-)
