Here are a few pictures from my tour of duty
with the U.S. Army's 172d Light Infantry Brigade (Seperate).

The mascot for the 3rd Squad, 3rd Platoon,
562nd Combat Engineers, Ft. Richardson, Alaska.
This was a trappers cabin we found while in the field.
No, we didn't go inside.
The skyline of Anchorage, Alaksa.
This was a much better picture than the one
of Ft. Richardson.
We hitchhiked down the coast to "Bear Lake"
for a couple of days R&R.
We actually found some color while posing for this picture.
(Yes that's me in the bandana.)
This is one of the glaciers we trained on.
Now where did I put that damned iceaxe?
This one's just outside Codova, Alaska where
we spent a lot of training time.
Winter training could be very taxing physically.
And trying to negotiate a compass course
in the winter was a real task.
A look at the pipeline from the Richardson highway going to
Ft. Greely.
Slingloading our equipment during my last deployment.
Sometimes it's nice to just sit and take a break.
I just hate it when someone drops in for dinner unexpectedly.
As if one uninvited guest wasn't enough,
here comes the whole troop.
After trying to eat all our food
this old boy wanted a ride home.
We caught this fellow waiting for the choppers
to bring our next meal in.
They got pretty good at listening for the
choppers and knowing it was chow time.
So this is what all the fuss was about.
My last project. A combat airstip for the upcoming FTX.
Here's the whole crew (except for the Lt. who didn't matter anyway).
What a bunch of scuzzy beasts we were.
