The image to the left here shows the inspiration for the name of my bus. No, really! Misato Katsuragi is an anime (Japanese animation) character from the series Neon Genesis Evangelion, one of the most controversial (and well executed) anime series in existence to date. The reason I named my '67 bus after an anime character is pretty simple. It just happened that way.OK I'll explain. When I went to look at this bus I was not thinking about anime, I was thinking about Volkswagens. Yet, when I laid my eyes on it for the first time -- in the setting sun on a cool evening in January -- Misato leapt into my mind. I'm not sure why, it was probably just some random thought...but the more I thought about it the more that I liked it. How many people have busses named after anime characters? I'm thinking around one :-) Also, Misato has a bit of a retro streak in her. In the opening credits of the series she appears briefly in 70's era attire and she even owns a "classic" Corvette. Well, classic for 2013. She even had it restored!
One of the craziest things I've thought of that makes the association even niftier is that my bus shares a scar with Misato. Misato (the character) has a large scar cutting across her torso that she received from injuries in the Second Impact. Don't ask, watch the series
