BRIEF HISTORY
The Brood is a race of alien beings that travels through the space into the
bodies of a more pacific race, infecting them with a virus that kills them
slowly. They can also use space sharks to get to other planets (their slave
creatures are too big to land) The oddest of their habits is their way of
reproducting, for their queen put an egg into a being and when it opens,
the host is possessed and transformed into one of them.
The first contact of the X Men with the Brood was during a confrontation
against the Shi'Ar DeathBird, who was allied with them. An egg was put into
Xavier, who only recovered humanity thanks to the
clonning proccess of the advanced shi'ar medicine, and almost destroyed the
New Mutants. Awhile, the X Men where in space with Carol Danvers and they
got captured and hypnotized by the Brood, putting also an egg on each of
them, except Carol, since she was now just a human, who was used for experiments
who would later transform her into Binary.
Wolverine's healing factor began to react against
the strange body inside him and eventually destroyed it, but the rest was
still infected and he would probably have to kill them. The other X-men who
realized the situation was Storm, and she also destroyed
the brood inside her by exposing it to the vacuum, almost dying in the proccess,
but getting rescued by one of the kind beings that the Brood used as slaves.
After freeing Binary, she took control of the situation, burning the aliens
inside the group and teaming with the Starjammers, as she didn't feel part
of earth anymore.
Far from being destroyed, the Brood got to earth in one of their sharks and
took possession of a man, revealing a new capability : looking like alien
or not depending of its will. New members were infected by that man until
the X Men stopped them a second time, but still, they found their way to
NewOrleans and infected many members of the brotherhood of killers, stealing
the mutant children to create a new powerful race (they keep the powers of
those they possess). With the help of Belladonna
(Gambit's wife) and the Ghost Rider (who got transformed
for a while into the Brood Rider) the X Men vanquished them for a third time,
but ... are they really done?
