BRIEF HISTORY

 

 

Rogue's mutant power consists in absorbing the mind and powers of the being she touchs, if the contact is produced skin to skin. She usually wears clothes that cover her whole body, so she has to take of a glove to make the contact, but she prefers a kiss to have her power working. She has proven able to absorb alien beings as well as humans and mutants.

Another important thing about her powers is the fact that longer the contact with the victim, longer the psyque remains in her. A curious plot was when she absorbed Colossus powers while he was deadly injured. She also absorbed those injures, not only the power and mind.

Rogue prefers not to use her powers, but better the ones she "borrowed" from Ms.Marvel, as told below. She discovered her being mutant the hard way, when her best friend ( Cody ) went catatonic after kissing her. Then, she retired to be alone, being recruited by Mystique, who went to recruit her for The Evil Mutants Brotherhood .Although it may appears that Mystique just wanted her as a pawn, she always treated her like a mother, and even prefered to have her joining the X Men after her crisis for absorbing Ms Marvel than seeing her suffer.

 

The thing about Ms Marvel (C. Danvers) is that during a fight she accidentally maintained a too long contact,coming into the absolute absortion of her mind and a permanent adquirement of her powers (usually, this absortion is temporal) Since a battle was taking place into her mind, she decided to ask for help to Charles Xavier, who invited her to join the X Men. Ever, since then, she has been on the good guys' side.

Added to her (uncontrolled) powers of absortion, she has invulnerability, super strengh and flying, stolen from Ms Marvel. She can't control her power, so she is virtually untouchable. The only time she seemed to be free from that is when she was jailed in Genosha, during the mutants' first visit to the island. Since the experience of being helpless to the magistrates was pretty shocking, she let her Ms Marvel part in control. For a while, the both sides of her mind fought for that control of the body, turning her eyes from green to blue when Ms Marvel was there, but she finally got free of it (although she still has the powers)

NOTE: Although she went free from her Ms Marvel mind part, lately, and also against her will, she has absorbed the memory of Belladonna (Gambit's wife) so once again her brain is struggled.
