The Games of Saberhaven
Orred Aved vs. Orm
        The doors open to a nine-foot tall, crazed paladin clad in studded leather armor zooming across the empty area of combat towards the smaller, but no less menacing Derro Savant.
       The crowd cheers at the quick start to the fight. Suddenly a lightning bolt flashes across the field and burns the paladin. Not slowing at all, the paladin runs up on the short, pseudo-dwarf and lashes forth with his wicked, glowing longsword.
       The small one dodges the first shot. On the backlash with the longsword, the paladin twists at the feet, not at the waist like he knew he should have, and sprains his ankle.
       The beserk paladin fervently slashes out at the Derro with his holy sword, landing three shots to the small one's body and neck. He disrupts the spellcasting of the Savant.
       The Derro reluctantly puts forth his sword to attack.
       Those close to the combat see a smile cross the face of the Paladin in his fenzy. Knowing he has the advantage in a sword fight, he continues his barrage.        The Derro dodges his shortsword, but fails to see the backside strike from Orm's holy sword.
       The Derro returns with his own shot to the wrist of the paladin. Orm notices the blade of Orred's sword coated with a greyish substance which he realizes is poison.
       Too late, the paladin takes the shot to an exposed area. He winces but resists the poison, then returns with another holy sword stab that knocks his small adversary unconscious.
       After a minute, the paladin calms down, enough to enjoy the end of the crowd's cheering. he makes sure the Derro is properly healed by the Arena priests and then makes his way out.
