The Games of Saberhaven
Gleam Boldheart vs. Koobon

The crowd is very rowdy today as it anticiaptes a real brawl. The odds men are not sure who of the two competitors will take the win, though many beleieve it shall be the new warrior mage Gleam.
Speak of the devil, Gleam is the first to enter the Arena. His glittering helm and scarlet cloak swirl with colors dancing off of them. He takes a chivolrous bow to the crowd and then turns to his opponent's gate. Flames flicker around him and the crowd see him slowly beginning to fade out. He lowers the visor on his helm, removes a huge glistening hammer from his back, and prepares for battle.
His opponent charges out through the open gate and takes a few test swing with his two huge morning stars and then quickly tests the pull on his bow. Romus Todd sure picked a fighter with this centaur. A lone ring catches the light of the sun, and Koobon plays the light into Gleam's eyes.
The match begins and the centaur's ring flares up in green flames. The flames dissappear from Gleam's shoulders and he fades back into sight. The centaur smiles and draws his bow.
Gleam reacts first, hurling his hammer with the force of a giant into the head of Koobon. The hammer smashes into him, knocking him off of his feet and stunning him. Dazed and confused Koboon attempts to get to his feet.
As Koobon struggles to find his footing, Gleam finishes chanting arcane words and a bolt of lightning rips from his open hands. It slams head on into Koboon, but he manages to twist acrobatically to avoid some of the damage. He stumbles, his scorched clothes partly disintigrated, and lets two arrows fly from his bow. His guantlets and girdle seem to sparkle in the sunlight as the channels their might through his strength bow.
Both arrows fly into Gleam, expert shots. One pierces his thigh and the other sticks into his chest burying the shaft inches from his lungs. The crowd goes wild at the sudden explosion of action and begins madly shouting suggestions to the competitors.
Gleam begins chanting once again in low tones while Koboon sets another arrow to his bow. Gleam finishes chanting first and suddenly it is not Gleam, but many Gleams! The six Gleams all stand now there scarlet capes flowing in the breeze as they begin to run full force at poor Koobon.
The bewildered Koobon takes one look at the on-coming mage and quickly shoots 3 arrows, each at a different "Gleam". Three images suddenly vanish and Koobon judges the distance between him and Gleam, contemplating whether to drop his bow or not.
Gleam is still charging towards Koobon and begins chanting under his breath. Before the spell is finished however, three arrows come streaking straight at the various forms of him.
All three are solid hits, the first pins Gleam himself, who is knocked backwards from the tremendous blow, and the spell on his lips is lost. The second and third shots dispel the last two images of him. Gleam finally achieves his goal, though, and is now at melee with Koobon, and lying on the ground about five feet away is his precious hammer. Koobon steps in between him and his goal, however, and draws his two morning stars, a huge smile on his face.
Gleam desperately ducks and weaves away from two furious blows from the morning stars Koobon wields. Two flash by his head but he keeps going for his hammer, his eyes now flashing with hatred as he focuses on the centaur. His eyes flare up for a moment as if somthing will happen, but nothing does.
Koobon takes two more swings with his mighty morning stars, one connecting solidly on Gleams left arm, almost numbing it. His overconfidence throws him off balance however, and his next swing spins him aside, allowing Gleam to gain possession of his precious hammer. He does an acrobatic roll up and his eyes bore into Koobon as he snarls, "You're mine!"
Gleam, acting like a man possessed, takes his hammer and slams it into Koobon's head with tremendous force, knocking him silly. As a result, a huge gash opens up in Koobon's head and his nose is broken with a crunch. A ring on Gleam's hand suddenly turns jet black and the arrow wound on his arm dissappers. Koobon gasps at what just happens and returns attacks. After taking such a shot, Koobon is very weak and his first two attacks are just awful, swinging wide once and the second time not putting enough into it for it to do any good.
The second attacks are just as fierce. Gleam once again slams his huge hammer home with the force of a giant. The ring again flares up and necromantic magic courses through him, healing him once again. Koobon is ready for this however and returns with two blistering attacks of his own. One smashes Gleam in the abdomen while the other smacks him upside the head. Koobon looks dismayed as he realizes Gleam actually healed more damage than he did. He grits his teeth and goes in for another round.
Unfortunately for Gleam, Koobon is far too fast and attacks first. His morning stars come crashing down, and one manages to hit Gleam. The shot opens up his leg, driving Gleam back. He is barely clinging to life now. He musters up his remaining energy for one last strike.
His hammer's aim is true and he slams it into the shoulder of Koobon, splintering it and rendering it useless. Necromantic energy courses through Gleams body and restores his leg wound. Koobon hides the pain on his face and lashes out with his good arm. The blow strikes home and Gleam's neck snaps up and then falls sideways as he slumps to the ground, neck broken. Koobon salutes his fallen opponent and then strides out of the ring.
