The Games of Saberhaven Morann vs. Sade
|
As the doors open, the elven fighter-mage Sade floats forward towards his opponent. In front of the wart-faced man is a small, two-inch sphere of darkness, also slowly moving forward. At the other end, the force mage-psionicist Morann steps forth and engages his Cube of Force around him. He looks towards his opponent then reaches out with his mind to touch the mind of Sade. Morann looks surprised, as if he hit a barrier which he cannot penetrate. Morann, suspecting unknown psionic talent in his opponent, holds his ground and erects a mental barrier of his own for protection. Recognizing the sphere from his studies, Morann gasps. "You *are* mad!" he says. "That you should wield such a thing as though it were a weapon! You shall soon discover your own folly." The force mage furrows his brow in concentration. When nothing happens, he looks confused as to why his spell doesn't work. Suddenly, Morann is struck from behind with a rapier. He turns to see four blurry images of the ugly man behind him, within his cube of force, each with several tentacles protruding from it. Sade laughs loudly at Morann's consternation, "Some have called me insane but they are just small petty people who are jealous of my incredible physical beauty." Sade leers. "I hope you like pain" Sade shouts, "I certainly like inflicting pain." Sade cackles madly. "You run away quickly little man." Sade smiles, "Run away from this." Each of the two tentacles attached to Sade holds a rapier, as well as holding two in his hands. The blurry images of Sade surround Morann. The force-mage manages to dodge the first blow. Realizing drastic action is in order, and not knowing which Sade to attack, Morann begins casting a quick spell. Sade strikes out again, this time connecting and disrupting the spell attempt. The fighter-mage finishes his opponent off with a blow from his on-hand rapier. Sade revels in his victory and the healing priests come out to revive Morann. Morann is heard to say as he limps from the arena, "Trickery and deception is the reason I left the Consortium years ago. I see the West has changed little."
