The Games of Saberhaven Amra vs. Brego
|
Amra and Brego enter the arena on opposite sides some
450 feet apart. There names are announced, and the
signal to begin is given. Amra charges down the
arena floor with bastard sword held ready over his
right shoulder. Brego, the elf, is a little surprised
by the speed at which Amra charges, but a small grin
leaves his face when he lifts off into the air flying
forward and up. Amra tracks the flying Brego. Looking helpless, clutching his sword, Amra gives his intention away only a movement before a gout of flame issues from his mouth to envelop Brego. The formerly grinning Brego remains in the same position some 40' off the ground and 10' in front of Amra. Smoke dances in wisps on Brego's body, but it looks like the flames did little to nothing to Brego at all. In retaliation, Brego points at Amra and a cold fear grips Amra's heart. However, Amra shrugs off the spectre of death that threatened to snuff out his life force. Amra is frustrated as his life is challenged without any way to rip his opponent to shreds. He grudgingly pulls out his axe, spits on the ground, and prepares to attack Brego from a distance. As he's getting ready to throw his axe, once more Brego points at the Barbarian. A cone of intense cold sweeps over the area. Amra, unprepared for this type of magical assault takes the full brunt of the magical cold. Brego laughs at the obvious pain of his opponent. Amra takes his pain and refocuses it into a mighty throw of his axe. The axe hurls through the air at Brego and slices across his chest. The axe passes across Brego, blood sprays across the arena in an arc as the axe curves past Brego and ends up back in Amra's hand. Now Brego looks mad. Amra springs into action again before Brego can even think about taking his anger out. With his left hand, he draws his other bastard sword, and with his right hand, he hurls his axe again. The axe leaves another bloody trail across Brego's chest as it flies back to return to Amra's hand. Brego curls his lip and points again at Amra. Another wave of cold washes over the barbarian, but this time, the barbarian is braced for this kind of treachery. Although covered in frost, Amra did not succumb to the cold sleep which beckons him. With one of his bastard swords in his left hand, and an axe in his right, Amra is a flurry of movement again as the axe flies at Brego. This time however, the axe is deflected off of Brego's shield. As the axe flies back to Amra, Brego flies down quickly also. Brego closes the 40 feet and attacks with his longsword. The longsword slides off of Amra's protections, and Amra, unprepared for close combat, is all he can do to get his right hand on his two-handed sword and pull it out. His axe falls to the ground at his side, uncaught, but almost instantly, a berserker's haze covers Amra's eyes. Amra's body bristles with crazed energy as Brego swings again. This time, Brego's sword cuts deep into Amra. Amra before the transformation would have fallen, but it looks like this berserk energy is keeping the barbarian alive. Brego is so taken aback by this completed transformation, that his next attack, misses entirely. Faster than a two-handed sword should move through the air, Amra's huge blade comes crashing down on Brego. The elf is ... upset ... by this attack, and launches one of his own as a counter. His longsword smashes through the magical defenses of Amra, and drops the barbarian to the ground, unconscious.
