Ships The Eureka - Page 1
The Eureka was built in 1890
as the railroad ferry Ukiah. From 1922 to 1941 she hauled
over 2,000 passengers and 100 autos at a time across
the Bay. With a four-story
steam engine, Eureka was the largest passenger
ferry of her time.
The Eureka
was used in the TV series Nash
Bridges as a temporary police station
(the original
headquarters
was supposedly damaged in a quake).
Part of the
show was actually filmed on the ship weekly.
