Right off the bat, I hail from the United States of America.
About JUST me:... well, I'm basically a geek *+. And I enjoy my (relative) privacy. If you are an online friend of mine, you will have gotten to know me through chatting. I don't reveal a lot of personal information like my height, weight (as if), shoe size, hair color, eye color, favorite type of guy (ha ha), favorite color (gee, which favorite, I have about three) to total strangers, and that, I'm sorry to say, includes you, Dear Reader of this Fantastic Web Site. (Did I mention my most endearing trait? I'm incredibly modest!)
What I prefer to do, instead, is share a few of my many interests with you. I realize that in doing so, I give you at least a small profile of me *smiles*, so those of you wanting to know the real me .... there ya go...
Maybe one of these days I'll put out a challenge to Diamondmyst Realm visitors - define the entity known as DiamondMyst ;)
A friend of mine, Armondo, once did so - requested we email him a description of what we thought he looked like...(family members exluded from the contest, naturally!). Gee... the more I think about that... forget it.. I do NOT want to know what sort of online profile you are generating on me as you peruse my web site *laughing*. I'll be satisfied if you totally explore it and completely enjoy it...
I mainly read Science Fiction - a whole range of authors. I've listed a few of my favorite authors and their works on another page at this site; perhaps they are yours too or soon will be!
I also watch science fiction on television - when I first made this page, the two that I never missed were Babylon5 and Star Trek Voyager. I cut my baby teeth on the original Star Trek series, and also enjoyed the series "Star Trek The Next Generation".
Other shows that I like but don't catch often include Doctor Who (seen nearly all the episodes, *especially* the Tom Baker ones!)(As of 2006, they've been making more in England, and some have made it to the Sci-Fi cable channel, but I haven't seen them, alas), Quantum Leap (seen each episode at least twice, ya gotta love Sam Beckett); SpaceCases and The Adventures of Alex Mack. Deep Space 9, I found interesting to watch (those Ferengi are something else, aren't they?). Currently I really enjoy Farscape, the Invisible Man, and soon I hope to be enjoying the new show Andromeda, starring Kevin Sorbo - aka Hercules star. I tried on Lexx for a while.. a few episodes were amusing but overall I don't care for the show. There are other science fiction shows I like, such as Outer Limits and Space:Above and Beyond, but I don't catch them very often.
Firefly and it's movie Serenity was an excellent series. Battlestar Galactica has been remade and is on the Sci-Fi channel; it's somewhat dark and strangely compelling. I've been buying the episodes as they are released on dvd. Why not record them? Mainly because the Sci Fi channel moved to a higher tier of cable that I do not pay for.
As for Science Fiction movies, I've seen quite a few of them! My favorites include Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Last Starfighter, Star Wars, certain but not all of the Star Trek movies *grin*, Enemy Mine, Leonard Part 6, and The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the Eighth Dimension.
Operating Systems suck. No matter which version. Maybe I should get a Mac!
Right now I have abandoned my programming languages in favor of exploring the Internet
in all its various aspects; that's practically a degree program in itself!
You could literally spend all day on it and still not get your fill!
There's a lot of junk out there but the gems one finds more than makes up for it.
I find that exploring other folk's web pages is an excellent source of
great links. Hmmmmm now that I think of it, creating this web page is
a form of programming! I guess I haven't totally left programming behind
at that......
Raise your hand if you have ever experienced this:
"You are like a mythological creature that casts some kind of spell on me and makes me act stupid. I'm not stupid. I don't act stupid with anyone else."
