Religion In The Western Realms

To the majority of people in the Western Realms the Immortals are ignored from one feast day to the next. To others the Immortals enrich and guide their lives they are the cleric and traveling mystics. In the main they are reveared and trusted members of society, spreading wisdom and knowledge throughout the Realms. Healing a sick child in a village in eastern Bormaris or improving the crops in northen Doralin. There are many Immortals worshipped within the realms, sometimes the same Immortal is known by different names in different places. The main Immortals are listed below:

Yamuga

Known as the Earth Mother in many regions this Immortal causes the crops to grow, the flowers to bloom and mountains to be raised. If angered she can summon earthquakes to split the land apart and swallow a single hamlet or complete islands. She can bring blight to a nations crops or make a woman barren. She is worshipped throughout the Realms though she is at her strongest in farming regions.
Symbol: A flower within a circle of stones.
Granted Power:speak with animals.
Domains: Animal, Earth, Healing, Plant, Protection

Thanatos

Known as The Grim Reaper to many this figure appears to his followers as a ragged mummy swathed in dark stained bandages and black robes. He is the end of all things, the swallower of worlds, the Wyrm at the End of Time. He despises life and seeks the death of all things. His followers are secretive and few dare wear his symbol (a scythe) openly. They carry out secret rituals and dark rites. All other Immortals are his enemies and they instruct their followers to kill all clerics of Thanatos on sight and despoil his hidden shrines.
Symbol: A scythe.
Granted Power:Martial Proficiency Scythe and Weapon Focus scythe as free feats.
Domains: Animal, Earth, Healing, Plant, Protection

Calitha

Goddess of the oceans, Calitha is popular with sailors, fisherfolk and those that live beside the sea. Slow to anger but powerful when enraged she can wipe whole cities from the map in a single night. Rumours abound of places on the coast of Bormaris where if you listen on a still night the sound of temple bells and chanting can be heard from this vanished cities. Her followers believe that the ocean is the cradle of all life and it should not be abused.
Symbol:a mermaid
Granted Power: You have the supernatural ability to breathe water as if under the effect of a water breathing spell, for up to 10 rounds per level. This effect occurs automatically as soon as it applies, lasts until it runs our or is no longer needed, and can operate multiple times per day (up to the total daily limit of rounds).
Domains:Animal, Healing, Plant, Water

Koryis

The Immortal of Peace and Prosperity. His clerics are the most welcome in any city or town. They are welcomed with fine gifts which it is believed will be returned a hundred fold in future generations. His clerics are peaceful and would rather talk their way out of a fight then smash skulls. Symbol: A hand held palm forward.
Granted Power: You may gain the benefits of a Protection from Evil spell for up to 10 rounds per level per day. Activating this power is a spell-like ability. The power can operate multiple times per day (up to the daily limit of rounds).
Domains: Magic, Protection

Kagyar

The Forger Of Worlds is the Immortal of the Dwarves, the first people. He is also the Patron of artisans and artists. His symbol of a hammer and chisel crossed in an 'X' can be seen on many works of Dwarven art and embroidered on banners in the Dwarven Halls. He has a great dislike of Thantos whom he calls the Great Destroyer.
Symbol: A hammer and chisel crossed in an 'X'
Granted Power: You have the spell-like ability to generate a protective ward once per day. You can grant someone you touch a resistance bonus on her next saving throw equal to your cleric level. The protective ward is an abjuration effect with a duration of 1 hour. Casting a protective ward is a standard action.
Domains:Earth, Knowledge

Mealiden Starwatcher

Immortal of Elves and the forest people. He has fallen out of favour with non-elves in recent generations as his children, the elves of Deepdale, were blamed for the plague that swept the land. He and his followers have spent the interveaning years in a search for a cure despite the plague not being thier fault. His clerics suspect the plague to have been caused by Thantos.
Symbol: A rainbow with a star above and below.
Granted Power:You gain Blind Shooting as a bonus feat.
Domains:Good, protection, War

Astrerius

Immortal Patron of trade, merchants and thieves. Many slavers in the Western Realms worship Asterius and his name has been tarnished by this. Legitimate clerics of Asterius do their utmost to destroy those slavers they can find, especially those clerics of Asterious that aid them.
Symbol: A Moon
Granted Power:You receive Bluff as a class skill and Skill Focus Bluff as a bonus feat. You have the ability to 'take 10' on this skill check if used for trading or bargaining.
Domains:Trickery, Luck, Knowledge

Pflarr

The jackel-headed god of magic is an even handed and cold hearted figure. Many mages will make a donation at the turn of the year to ensure favour with Pflarr. Clerics of Pflarr are rare but often climb to positions of power due to their strong neutrality, they are prepared to see both sides of an argument and are not afraid to state thier opinions.
Symbol: A Jackel head with human eyes.
Granted Power:You gain Alertness as a bonus feat. Spot and Listen are class skills.
Domains:Knowledge, Magic, Protection

Solarios

Solarios is the patron diety of the states of Bormaris and Doralin. Despiser of darkness and undead Solarios is said to have come to earth riding on a chunk of the Sun. Part of this fiery chariot is placed in every major temple of Solarios. Fascinated by knowledge Solarios often sends dreams to his clerics to encourage them to search out lost realms and hidden secrets. Symbol:A flaming chariot wheel.
Granted Power:You may Turn or Destroy undead as a cleric one level higher.
Domains:Fire, Knowledge, Strength, Sun

Others

There are other Powers in the Realms worshipped by the other races. Ilneval the god of the orcs being possibly the most famous.
