This is a checklist of comics based on The X-Files, a Twentieth Century Fox Television series created by Chris Carter. The list was last modified 20 Aug 2008. Wildstorm is publishing new comics. Notes: This ashcan issue is a b&w mini-comic featuring the first half of X-Files #1 and Stefan Petrucha's introduction to The X-Files comics. Bagged with the Direct Market edition of Star Wars Galaxy Magazine #2 (Winter 1995) from Topps. The Newsstand edition of SWGM #2 is not bagged. Cover reproduces the cover of X-Files #1 in b&w. The X-Files #1 Jan 1995 Not to be Opened Until X-mas
A man dies in a Brooklyn church, claiming to have helped steal the final prophecy of Fatima from the Vatican. Their investigation leads Mulder and Scully to a collector of sacred artifacts. An unidentified branch of the military wants to locate and examine the final prophecy too. Notes: Contains "Leaves in a Circle: Xploring the Xtremes", a welcome to The X-Files comic by Stefan Petrucha. The Newsstand edition has a UPC barcode printed on the lower left corner of the cover. The Direct Market edition doesn't have a barcode. ($2.50)

The X-Files #2 Feb 1995 A Dismemberance of Things Past (1 of 2)
Witnesses of an alleged alien craft are being murdered and the next victim may be a respected military officer. Mulder and Scully are asked to investigate. The remaining witnesses are beginning to remember details that someone wants kept hidden. ($2.50)

A commercial artist's models have all vanished. Mulder and Scully make an arrest, but their suspect is abducted. The X-Files #3 Mar 1995 A Little Dream of Me (2 of 2)
A rogue military officer, a player in the "inner government", ties up loose ends. With help from the Lone Gunman gang, Scully and Mulder identify the officer. He offers Mulder the opportunity to recover his sister, Samantha. Scully discovers facts indicating that the offer may be a hoax. Notes: Cover title appears as The Return. ($2.50)

The X-Files #4 Apr 1995 Firebird: Khobka's Lament (1 of 3)
At Tunguska, Siberia, a shaman watches faceless men disturb the Firebird. In New Mexico, skeletal remains of a Russian scientist, carbon-dated at 15,000 years old, are found in an overturned, unmarked truck. Scully and Mulder investigate, finding evidence of materials used to achieve a fusion reaction. At White Sands Missle Range, the shaman survives to greet Firebird. Notes: Beginning with this issue, the Direct Market and Newsstand editions both have UPC barcodes on the lower left corner of the front cover. The Direct Market edition has a black diagonal stripe across the barcode. ($2.50)

The X-Files #5 May 1995 Firebird: Crescit Eundo (2 of 3)
Scully and Mulder flee from Firebird with Khobka, only to encounter more faceless men in black. While Scully tries to keep Khobka alive, Mulder is taken before the "inner government" and Firebird grows as it goes, threatening to consume Las Cruces, New Mexico. ($2.50)

The X-Files #6 Jun 1995 Firebird: A Brief Authority (3 of 3)
Mulder refuses to cooperate with the leaders of the "inner government", who are covering up Firebird's destructive activities. The faceless men kidnap Khobka with Scully in pursuit. Together, Scully and Mulder help Khobka free Firebird from earth before destroying New Mexico, but the faceless men remain faceless. Notes: Beginning with this issue the Direct Market edition barcode is labeled "DIRECT SALES" and the Newsstand edition has a different product code. ($2.95)

The X-Files/TV Guide mini-comic 15 Jul 1995 Circle Game
Investigating a rash of crop circles in Nebraska, Scully and Mulder unmask a murderer with help from an unusual cerealogist. Notes: Topps was commissioned to write this mini-comic for the summer science fiction issue of the US edition of TV Guide, Vol. 43 No. 28 Issue #2207, pp. 22-26. Cover features a photograph of Kes and Neelix from Star Trek: Voyager . ($0.99)

The X-Files #7 Jul 1995 Trepanning Opera
Agent Drake has been hunting a serial killer for five years. The killer trepans his victims and they die with a smile. The most recent victims carry messages for Mulder and Scully. ($2.95)

The X-Files Annual #1 Aug 1995 Hallow Eve
Prof. Jonah Brockford claims to have found Eve's remains, then dies under mysterious circumstances. The remains are transported to Miskatonic University in Arkham, MA, and more people die. Mulder believes that the spirit of the mother of humanity is disturbed. Scully is skeptical despite warnings of danger from a spirit of her own. ($3.95)

Scully and Mulder investigate a hollow earth cult in Alaska, whose leader is searching for a lost city in the ice. When their plane crashes Mulder is captured by Dr. Enoch and taken to the long lost city of Azatlan. Scully follows and watches as Mulder and Enoch open an ancient tomb. ($2.95)

The X-Files #1-3, Second Printing
Notes: These reprints have a few corrections (e.g. red hair for Scully) and no letters. Issue #1 has a small poster of the cover stapled in the centerfold. Each reprint is marked "Special Numbered Editions". A banner across the top of the cover reads "This is XXX of YYY", where XXX is a dot-matrix printed number and YYY is 120,000 for issue #1, and 90,000 for issues #2-3. While Mulder listens to tapes of Enoch to learn the secrets of his last meal, General Shadenfreud, Scully remembers a connection to Colleen Dunne. Mulder is led to the Ilbal by an informant and Scully tracks down Dunne. Men-in-black also find Dunne. ($2.95)

Investigating the disappearance of a fellow agent, Scully, Mulder, and Big Foot become prey for a reclusive millionaire who hunts with robots. Notes: This quarterly publication features a 65-page X-Files comic and reprints of three stories from Ray Bradbury Comics. Full color, 96 pages, 5.25"x7.375" format (similar in format to Disney Adventures ). There is a limited variant edition (10,000 copies) with a photo cover, sold by American Entertainment. The X-Files #11 Nov 1995 Feelings of Unreality: The Ancient of Days (2 of 3)
An intruder breaks into an FBI lab looking for the Ilbal. Colleen Dunne, Scully's chief witness in the Neola incident, undergoes medical tests. Scully tells Mulder that she now believes that they have come across some kind of conspiracy. While Scully experiences electro-magnetically induced sensations of aliens, Mulder falls prey to Dunne, who has him wear the Ilbal and experience sensations he has never felt before. ($2.95)

The X-Files Magazine #1 Winter 1996 The Pit
In Nova Scotia, Mulder and Scully try to help with a hostage situation, but someone or something long buried wants the hostage more. Notes: This quarterly publication features an excerpt from Ground Zero by Kevin J. Anderson, illustrated by Omaha Perez, articles, interviews, and an eight-page X-Files comic (pp. 53-60). There are no credits for the comic. The Deluxe Collector's Edition is bagged with an X-Files MasterVisions Preview card (XMV 1), an X-Files Finest Chromium promo card (TXFM 1), and a Behind the Scenes episode poster of Anasazi (2.25). Full color, 64 pages, 8.5"x11" format. There is a limited variant edition (15,000 copies) with a photo cover, sold by American Entertainment. Wizard Presents: The X-Files #1/2 1996 Tiptoe Through the Tulpa
Mulder believes that a series of murders are the work of a tulpa, a conjured being, created by a man who's been in a coma for five years. Scully unearths a more pragmatic explanation in the form of the suspect's vengeful mother. Notes: This issue also contains a sketchbook with artwork by Boonthanakit. Wizard #53 (Jan 1996) was bagged with a certificate (and an envelope) which could be redeemed for a free copy of X-Files #1/2. The offer expired 31 January 1996. A computer game programmer murders the other members of his project team and can only mutter strange sounds after he is jailed. With help from the Lone Gunmen, Mulder and Scully identify the sounds as binary code and the only witness to the murders tells its tale. Notes: This issue contains Adlard's inked artwork and Kim's photo montage artwork providing different points of view. ($2.95)

In the Georgia swamps, a survivalist and his mail-order bride (who narrates the story) witness a dogfight between jet fighters and a UFO. Investigating reports of a crashed UFO, Mulder and Scully are taken prisoner by a survivalist group, whose leader believes that Federal agents are responsible for current events. As shadow-men converge on the compound, the agents must decide which of them gets to die. ($2.95)

U.S. Navy pilot John Lawrence reappears fifty years after his squadron, Flight 19, disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle. Mulder talks Scully into helping him investigate Lawrence. They learn that someone has gone to great lengths to pull off a hoax, but Mulder thinks that the real John Lawrence may make an appearance. ($2.95)

The Lone Gunmen give Mulder some background on atmospheric creatures. Mulder asks the director of the research station to set up another test in hopes of attracting the attention of something. The local police chief tags along with an agenda of his own. ($2.95)

The X-Files Magazine #2 Summer 1996 The Silent Blade
An advertising executive is compelled to buy a sword at an auction of occult artifacts and uses it to murder nine people. Scully and Mulder uncover disturbing facts about the sword's history. Notes: Features an excerpt from Ruins by Kevin J. Anderson, interviews with Mitch Pileggi and Mark Snow, an article on the Lone Gunmen, and an eight-page X-Files comic (pp. 45-52). Notes: This adaptation of the pilot (episode 1.1) kicks off an X-Files series presenting authorized 48-page adaptations of the television episodes. Also contains "The Making of the X-Files Comic Book Series" by Dwight Jon Zimmerman. Published with three different covers, the regular edition featuring Mulder and Scully, and limited editions featuring Mulder alone, and Scully alone. ($3.95)

The X-Files #20 Jul 1996 Family Portrait: Gallery (1 of 2)
The mummified corpse of Henry Franklin, a tourist photographer, is found. Mulder and Scully investigate, learning that his neighbors feared him and tourists who had their pictures taken by him got sick and died. An old portrait camera may help solve the mystery. Notes: Anderson is the author of two X-Files novels, Ground Zero and Ruins. ($2.95)

Mulder finds Henry Franklin's journal, learns about the camera's original owner, and discovers that the camera captures a subject's life force, feeds it to a parasitic incubus, leaving a mummified corpse. The incubus is starved for souls and Scully is its next victim. Notes: This issue comes with X-Files Season Three promo card P2 inserted in the centerfold. ($2.95)

A wealthy banker and a young woman are found dead, exsanguinated and their internal organs removed. Scully and Mulder travel to Puerto Rico to investigate the bizarre murders which appear to have been committed by a chupacabra - a goat sucker. Notes: El Mundo Gira, episode 4.11 by John Shiban, also featured a story about chupacabras. ($3.95)

Students at a Hawaii university are dying mysteriously. Native superstition suggests that they may be the target of a Kanishibari - a choking ghost . Scully and Mulder are stonewalled by the survivors and the killing spree accelerates as they uncover the reason for the students' silence. ($2.95)

Someone is harvesting transplanted organs from recent recipients. All of the organs came from the same man. Mulder and Scully interview the organ donor's widow and family while the killer collects his remaining organs. ($2.95)

A respected obstetrician begins lining his office and home with aluminum foil and wearing foil clothing. He also urges his pregnant patients to shield their unborn babies from ELFs, Extremely Low Frequency electromagnetic signals. Mulder and Scully are asked to investigate by a fellow agent, looking for answers as the doctor's bizarre behavior becomes life-threatening. ($3.95)
