Welcome to the 2000 PJMurphy Invitational Page

Another year has come and gone and yet again I have another excuse for not updating the page..Mad busy and the arrival of the chisler but as the golf itself is so hard to book why not make the web page update the same.

The players of 2000

Rob,Mick,Phil,Andy,Jim
Turlough,Connor
The first day of the Millennium Invitational started off dry but by the end of the first two holes most of the players had been soaked the whole way through.Phil prefering the lazy option rented a buggy. Seemingly the real reason is post BIFFO celebrations. The weather played havoc with peoples golf but one man stood up and shone through it all. Andrew Gartlan had built up a commanding 5 stroke lead over his nearest rival, a former champion himself,Mick Frawley.Never before in this competition had the leader on the first day given up his lead..........What was to happen..... Unfortunately Connor had to leave for a wedding the following day. Many thanks Connor for looking after the prizes at such short notice...
Below are the scores for the first day.I remember talking to Andrew and him saying that he was so focused and so determined to win.He knew he was going to do it..After all he said I amMr Do Be Do Be Man and there is no way I am going to get caught.

Name Score
Andrew Gartlan 70
Mick Frawley 75
Robert Collins 80
PJ Murphy 81
Philip Kelly 85
Turlough O'Donnell 87
Jim Duffy 95

Dinner was had at the bar and then we relaxed in the leisure centre. Then it was of to Outer Limits for a few pints and time to dance the night away. There were no early to bedders but eventually we made our way there. Steven Stevenson the Swedish porn star had joined us for a while that night but his 30 verses of The Galway Shawl and Scorn Not His Simplicity were just too much. The best that night was his attempted "Swan Dive" from the piano...Under it all though something was happening to some one...Something was afoot ouside the Circle K....Follow on HERE to see what happened on Day 2.....
