The Flight (Poem)
by Susan B.
Sorry, I watched AMPH too many times . This is my version of
what's going on in Nick's mind near the end when he's flying to
Nat's place.
I should have told her that I loved her
That I could not condemn her to my fate
That I could not bear to see her cold
And watch her love turn into hate
Will I find her cold upon her bed?
I let her go! I watched her leave!
A weak attempt to stop her
When I should have held her in my arms
And told her that I loved her
Her skin a deathly white?
I should have made her understand
The hell that it would be
That when the beast controls the soul
The soul is never free
Will I find her truly dead?
I should have told her how my heart
Cried out in agony
To hear her confession of desire
To give her love to me
Or walking in the night?
For all the pain I gave my love
A greater pain I could not suffer
Than to know her love, her precious blood
Was taken by another
Natalie !!!
Her heart beats still !!!
And I am spared
Eternity in sorrow
And all those things I should have said
Can wait upon tomorrow
The End
