The Heart Remembers
by BJ
Natalie Lambert had been in an accident.
She'd lost her memory.
She'd forgotten everything.
And everyone.
"LaCroix."
"Nicholas?"
"I want to ask a favor of you."
"Of course. Name it and it shall be done."
"Make me forget."
"What?"
"Make me forget her."
"She does not remember you."
"No."
"Nicholas, you want me to hynotize you...to make you forget about her?"
"Yes."
"This has never been attempted...hypnotizing a vampire...mortals, yes.
Why wouldn't you have me to try to make her remember? Surely those
thoughts that she lost are in her subconscious..."
"It would be better this way."
"You do not wish to remember her..."
"I don't want her to....I want her to go on with her life. I've wasted
six years of her life already."
"Perhaps she didn't see it that way."
"But I do."
"I cannot change your mind?"
"No."
"Very well then. Look at me Nicholas. Look deep into my eyes...surrender
your will to me."
"Natalie."
"Yes,"
"Do you know what you are?"
"A doctor, I've been told.
"Do you want to know anything other than that?"
"I want to know who I am."
"And how do you suppose you'll do that?"
"I'll find a way."
"Is there anyone who can help you?"
"No."
She was alone. A friend to those around her, a stranger in her own mind.
"Nicholas?"
"Yes?"
"Do you know what you are?"
"I am a vampire."
"Do you want to be anything other than a vampire?"
"I want to be mortal again."
"And how do you suppose that you will do that?"
"I'll find a way."
"Is there anyone that will help you?"
"No."
