You have long since become accustomed to the sound of sand beneath your feet and the breath of hot desert winds in your face. These things have become meaningless to you. You have come to this place, this pyramid in the desert, for what? Surely you know of Him, the One Who Waits within these blocks of stone? You have found the home of Anubis, the God of the Underworld, usherer of spirits to the next plane, the Jackal God.

You pause. Ah, so you did not know consciously. There is no surprise on your face and so you must feel that somewhere deep in your own wounded heart you were seeking the one boon Anubis may grant to all.

We all seek Him in our own time. Some because they mourn what has been taken from them, a love, a child, a friend. Some because they have already bested all who came before and have but one challenger left to wrestle. Some know not why they seek and come looking for the sake of a disquiet around the soul that has no name, a longing unfilled which they believe may only be quenched by the last kiss. Some seek relief from suffering, either in the body or in the mind. Some run as far as their legs may take them only to discover themselves standing here before the doorway. And all enter.

So Effendi, do you know why you have come? Do you seek Anubis to best Him or to embrace Him? When you have made your choice, place your hand on the Eye and press.

Step within, mortal.
