I'm no expert on researching colleges or getting in. I'm just a high school senior who knows how stressful looking at colleges can be. With this page I hope to help others in using the Internet in their search for the perfect college. I'm going to try and make this a site with links to information not links to more links.
2/22/02: To date I have been accepted to 3 out of the 4 colleges I applied to, St. Scholastica, St. Benedict's and St. Thomas. I'm still waiting to hear from my first choice school Gustavus.
4/9/02: Well I've finally been accepted to Gustavus. I've also accepted their offer and will be a Gustie of the class of 2006. I received a fairly nice financial aid package including three scholarships (Trustee's Scholarship, Norelius Service Award and an Alumni Scholarship). It feels so good to have made my decision.
6/24/02: I went down to good old G.A.C. to register for classes last week. I'm taking General Psychology, Principles of Biology, Spanish Composition and a freshman seminar about childrens literature. The title is Moral Enchantment: Children's Literature and the Creation of the Self. The spanish is the 5th semester spanish and is the first class in a major/minor sequence. I had to take a written test and have an oral inteview in Spanish to be placed in that class. Boy was I nervous! I'm taking Pyschology and Biology because I'm interested in going into Nursing. At Gustavus, after taking prerequisites your first two years you apply your sophmore year and enter the Nursing program in your Junior year. I choose my Freshman Seminar because it sounded interesting. Some of the other topics sounded depressing and heavy (the Atomic bomb, the Holocaust, etc). I think my schedule is going to be pretty crazy and so a class where we read children's novels sounded like a nice release. The times of my classes aren't too bad. I start at 9:00 on Mondays-Wednesdays and Fridays. Thursday will be yucky with an 8:00 Biolgy lab but that's all I have.
I'm going to get around to having descriptions for these pages eventually becasue each college search page has different features. To find a specific college's page you can easily go to any search engine and type in the name of the school.
College Board: Sections include Planning for College, Finding the Right College, Getting into College and paying for college. Also since it's from the writers of the PSAT, SAT, Advanced Placement and CLEP examinations you can find information about those tests.
Campus Tours: Virtual Web Tours, webcams, college Maps, videos and pictures for many different schools.
Embark:
ACT Test Official Site:You can register for the ACT exam and prepare for the test. Other sections include Get Ready For College, Compare College Costs, Explore Careers and Get a Job.
