We boarded a boat in Itubera that took us to an island/village called Contrato. On the way there the boat stopped for us to go swimming. Once I finally got in I understood what everyone was saying about the current. It was really strong and pulling you away from the boat. It was really funny 'cause you could swim and not go anywhere! Once on the island I noticed there were no roads (that i saw). We walked through the sand to the church that we camped in front of. Then we went to the beach for a long time! As someone who doesn't have the patience to just lay on the beach I find it relaxing to walk. I saw a jellyfish which considering the limited amount of wild life I saw on this trip was worthy of a picture.
That night we had a bonfire on the beach. Some locals came down and helped us keep the fire going. We entertained ourselves by shining flashlights onto the little crabs that were crawling up and down the sand.
they only have limited electricity (from 6-10 pm).
