"There is no finish line until a cure is found"

This page is for the members of the "Insane Snowflakes Relay For Life Team!

Our team's goal is to raise $1,000. Last year we raised close to $700 with a team of eight people. At a first glance this looks like a lot but I know that we can do it! With the current number of people that is only $125 each. Speaking of people we need more. I love those of you on the team but if you could help me recruit new members that would be awesome!

Relay For Life Meetings

All meetings are from 6:30-7:30 in Sommers Hall (St. Scholastica) unless otherwise noted)
Monday April 17: The main topic discussed was the opening ceremony and how to make it more organized. Last year there were problems with announcing the teams and team pictures. We came up with a new plan for the "Team Lap". After the survivors have completed their lap the first team with start. They will leave from their campsite and continue around the track. When they sign in team Captains will be given a piece of posterboard with their team name on it. When they walk past the stage they will clearly display this poster so their team name can be announced. This will solve the problems of lining up and congestion at the starting line. In regards to pictures efforts will be made to find a photographer willing to stay for several hours. It would then be left up to the team captains to assemble their team members for a picture. This seemed to solve memorial lap during the luminary ceremony for those who lost someone to cancer. it was voted on that the $10 committment fee will be counted in each participants total. The $100 minimum will not be enforced. However it is asked that participants raise more than the $10 because it does cost the ACS money for T-Shirts etc. and this event is intended to raise money not spend it.

Our Goal

Let me be the first to admit our goal is high. Considering the fact that most of us hate fund raising (my self included) we've got our work cut out for us. But I know we can do it and it's for such a worthy cause.

I haven't looked into this but I know that a lot of gas stations let sports teams and other organizations have car washes (those that don't have the ones where you drive in). My sister did it with her swim team and they had a blast. We could do it sometime in the summer, probably in June. I know of a couple gas stations that atleast in the past have let groups do it. The one across the street from the London Road McDonalds and another one on (??Arowhead) it's across from Dairy Delight if you know where that is.

Theme Ideas

These are ideas that I've found off of other Relay websites and some are from ACS. They are just starting points. Here are some of my own ideas
