The Story of Globechatters.wav
The Globechatters wav was our chatroom's attempt to immortalise itself in sound form. Essentially, many of our chatters seperately recorded their names in their own voices which were then compiled together to form an impressive collage. The idea was borrowed from Spot's famous 1999 precedent designed for the #Starfleetlounge: Thecrew.wav (827kb).
In June 2000, we had toyed with the idea of creating our own 'Thecrew.wav' for #Tiberius/#Cr'sbar. Spot laid down the framework by collecting names of a handful of chatters in a wav temporarily called Tib.wav, but it was Cetacean and his superlative wav-making capabilities that added dozens more names and a professional background theme to complete the wav on October 31st, 2000. Here is the finished product: Globechatters.wav (107kb). In July 2001, several extra chatters' names and a different background was added to the wav: TheGlobechatters.wav (219kb). I appreciate the efforts of everyone involved, as Globechatters very much remains the material representation of our chatroom and contains many of our most-loved chatters.
