No matter who made it, music is an aspect of culture, and culture belongs to the people. Companies such as Record Labels, Recording Industry Organisations, and "legitimate" peer to peer music file sharing companies as well as musicians employed by these labels and companies are claiming ownership of music. If someone picks up an instrument and begins to play in the streets, everyone in the street hears it. The flowing sound of the music becomes everyone's. What if someone tried to charge the people listening to the music for just hearing it? What if musicians only played at businessplaces for money? can no one just begin to play any music of their choice without having to be payed? Without emotion, music is just sound. Wo why must people charge to express their emotion? Why must people constantly capitolise on other people's emotions?
