Riverwind, grandson of
Wanderer, is a stoic and good natured warrior. He is sometimes distrustful
of others, though, and is often over-protective of Goldmoon. He was a poor
member of the Que-shu tribe and it was for this reason that the chieftain
was so angered and upset when he discovered that his daughter, Goldmoon,
was in love with him. He ordered that Riverwind journey to find evidence
of the True Gods in order to receive his blessing. Riverwind travelled
to the ruins of Xak Tsaroth "where death flew on black wings" and was given
the blue crystal staff by an apparition of the goddess Mishakal. He returned
to his tribe disoriented and tired but he knew that he would now be able
to wed his beloved. The chieftain saw Riverwind and was angered that the
warrior was still alive and making blasphemous claims of the origin of
the staff which he had given to Goldmoon. Riverwind was sentenced to stoning.
Goldmoon heard of this and ran to the aid of the tribesman. The staff she
held glowed bright blue and then they appeare in Solace, far away from
the tribe. Here they met and joined the companions.
Riverwind and Goldmoon wed after the slaves were freed from Pax Tharkas. Their children were good friends with those of Caramon and Tika Majere. |
