COMBAT
In combat the Wendigo
is a savage predator with no grace, it uses its mighty claws and massive
strength to rip through armor and flesh alike, causing 2d10+5 points of
damage with each claw. Sometimes when the Wendigo looses its temper to
sheer bloodthirst, it will grab a small tree and use it as a club on its
opponents, this way it only gets one attack pr. round, but willl cause
3d10+8 in damage. The Wendigo can also use its tail to deliver a crushing
blow to everyone standing at its back or next to it. This tail-slap can,
on a succesful hit, cause 3d6 in damage to up to three persons within a
6 feet radius. Those who are hit, will further be flung 20 feet through
the air, and must make a saving throw vs. Paralyzation or go down unconscious
for 1 round. When using the tail-slap, the wendigo is only able to use
one claw-attack that round. The Wendigo is immune to every known poison
and can only be hit by weapons with at least a +1 enchantment. Furthermore,
it gets half damage from cold-based attacks, and -1 pr. die of damage from
all other spells. It is immune to all charm and mind-effecting spells.
The Wendigo is also able to regenerate 1 hp of damage each round no matter
what kind of damage caused, this healing is active until brought down at
-10 hp, in which case the Wendigo enters a trance state for 1/2 hour. When
it finally awakes, it is fully healed. The Wendigo also possesses a superiour
tracking sence, which allows it to track prey at an unearthly ability.
HABITAT/SOCIETY
There can only be one
unaging Wendigo at a time and few reports about the beast are known. It
thrives in the northern woods, avoiding contact with others, and only appears
when hungry for meat, just to rip and tear apart anyone which stands in
its way. The only way to rid a person of the Wendigo-curse, is to bring
the monster down at -10 hp or less, and then cast a Wish . The person
then gains a saving throw, if he misses he is doomed to be the Wendigo
forever until slain. If he is succesfull, he is transformed back to his
former self, but what he has done while under the curse of the Wendigo
will forever torment his soul, and he will likely retire as a broken man.
ECOLOGY
The Wendigo is more a
curse than a monster. The curse is bestowed upon a human who has degenerated
to the ways of a cannibal and tried eating the flesh of intelligent people.
Most often it is people who have been driven mad by hunger who takes such
a desperate step, and thereby gained the wrath of the gods of nature, and
as a vengeance they were transformed into a savage predator with no trace
of humanity, the Wendigo.
As such they are bound
to roam the forets with a neverending hunger for freshkilled meat.
