Technocracy, Trikian.

Welcome to the Vorhang Universal Database. We have done our best to record truthfully all of the actions, players and events of the universe. To the best of our knowledge all of the information in the following is one hundred percent truthful. May your days be full of light and knowledge.

Definition: The Trikian Technocracy is the name of the galactic organization based in galaxy 980122 by Greffan Star Charts. The title Trikian Technocracy is a misnomer, despite its origins on the planet Trikian; the organization is not limited to that race. Its objectives are universal order, extensions of truth and knowledge, and the obliteration of romantic love.

History:

History is a great tool. Unfortunately, like all tools...it may be used as a weapon. Know it, so you can defend against it when it is misused.

Lt'Marn, Scribe of the Jy Barony

The Planet Trikian began its formation in the primordial times; our race did not notice it and if they did at the time they would have noticed nothing but a rock floating around a blue sun. At around the same time, the moist world, which would become known as Quintessa had begun to form in the ageless void. The planet began to cool and the first rains fell on its bleached and pained surface. The first years of Trikian were akin to the first years of any number of the million other M-class planets scattered like lost children throughout the voids of space. Life began as a spark in the chemical seas of the world, and from these humble beginnings animal life evolved. From the depths crawled animals, which would appear bizarre to some of us, and normal to others of us. Strangely, the creation of the planet Trikian seems to be a precursor to the almost identical development of the planet, which would be known as Earth. Also, strangely...Earth and Cybertron seem to be intermixed with the Trikians in some way. It seems as though the old Rtax proverb holds true, "A knot has many lines."

The Trikian planet never felt the thunderous feet of massive reptilian creatures, as its sister planet Earth would millions of years later. Its development instead seemed to immediately leap to the mammalian family for its choice of the planets evolutionary monarchs. Again, things seem unpleasantly similar to the planet Earth's development. The Trikian race began as a species of carnivores possessed of simian, canine and feline aspects. A further explanation of the evolutionary effects on the physiology of the Trikians of today can be seen in the later entry of Trikian Physiology. These proto-Trikians, for lack of a better term, began to develop rapidly. Like their descendants, they knew the art of the tool. The proto-trikian, still breaking in their collective opposable thumbs, had already mastered the use of weapons akin to the bow and arrow. Unlike most races of today, the Trikians were born of the species that did not need to run from others...they have always been the monarchs of their world in one way or another.

Like most fledgling societies, the early Trikian culture was nearly obsessed about sex. This is seen in their development of a matriarchal society. The females cared for the young while the males defended and located food. The ability of the female to withhold reproductive rights not only gave her personal power, but power over the continuing genetic lineage of her people. This resulted in generally submissive or extremely forceful males providing the dominant genetic information for the development of the race. Perhaps this explains why they are such an... interesting people. The race's earliest centers of development were located in the Northeastern Hemisphere of their homeplanet. This area, for all intensive purposes, was what most cultures would refer to as hellish. The area perhaps is what saw to the many physiological defenses, which exhibit themselves in present day Trikians. The place was full of gray skies and nearly barren land. With time however, the society moved more or less its entirety to the larger, more fertile western lands.

The development of the government continued in the new continent. Soon, as most races do, the Trikian people broke off into different clans. It was also around this period that the worship of totems, nature and deified figures began. The society began to strongly resemble most feudal structures, although it was increasingly hard to prevent the onrushing of patriarchal society, since the males held almost all of the military strength of the race. The planet became awash in the chaos of the subtle gender warfare whilst they were also attacking each other in futile attempts to gain power. Admist the chaos, a most perplexing book was discovered. Trikians, forever possessed of the skill of originality, named this work the Book. The Book contained a startling religion, monotheistic and suggesting that all were equal in the eyes of one benevolent God. This religion was rapidly run into hiding by the already nervous Matriarchs: they declared any form of religion illegal upon the Book's appearance, except for the worship of nature. More details on the Book can be located in the later entry on religion.

Chaos continued through this age, until a certain Matriarch stood up...with the backing of the newly spaceborne Quintessons. Her name was Lil'Rilna, and she brought about the unification of the various clans and baronies into the organization known as the Matriarchy. She did this partially through the use of military power, and mostly through the use of the addictive chemical given to her by the Quintessons: Tarkti. Tarkti served to neutralize the threats of most of the rebellious Barons who supported a more patriarchal society. The Matriarchy slowly spread across the world, while the Quintesson laughed from space. After sometime, roughly seven generations of Trikians later, the Quintessons brought a new commodity to the Matriarchy: Cybertronian slaves. The Quintesson had recently rediscovered the Cybertronian homeworld and had begun selling the Cybertronians to races in need of cheap, easily repaired and replaced labor. With the Cybertronians, Tarkti could be more quickly cultivated, which meant more Trikians would become addicted, which meant that the Quintesson plan would come to fruition that much faster. One cannot help but respect and hate the Quintesson more for this: On one hand their plan was deviously intelligent, on the other hand it reduced them to being simple drug-dealers.

Admist the Quintesson machinations, a slave-male...a member of the Lil family's selema, began plans of his own. The slave was known as Ak'Niki; he would become known as the founder of the Technocracy. He managed to convince several of the younger female members of the Lil family that their society had grown corrupt, although the method of his convincing them is left to history's perverse imagination. The corruption of the Matriarchy is seen in their decadence, lack of respect for life, and sexual perversion. Slowly a movement grew up, roughly ten thousand Trikians. Unfortunately for the Quintessons and the ruling Matriarch family, the followers of Niki were the scientists, artists and scholars. Niki made one last transmission to the rest of his world: a warning of the Tarkti to the thus far unaffected southern baronies and the free South Polar Region. This forever set the Southern Baronies and the South Polar Region into a cold war with the Matriarchy, taking the attention away from the Technocracy. Then the fledgling Technocracy, assured of some amount of privacy in the next few years, disappeared into the ancient northeastern hemisphere. Niki also made sure to welcome any and all religious who wished to flee from the Matriarchy, except nature-worship...which he outlawed. Niki's organization was not heard of for a long time...at least not by the planet's occupants.

The Quintesson are a race of philosophers who know nothing of truth; warlords who know nothing of war.

Tarlark of the Planet Nex.

The Quintessons noted it as strange, fortunately for Niki. Quintessons have always been cast down by their egos. While the Quintessons and their Matriarchy lackeys were busy attempting to subtly conquer the world, Niki and his forces put their skills to full use...and the Trikian Technocracy leapt ahead. The first Trikian leaps into space were done by Niki's Technocracy. While technology was leaping ahead, deeper philosophical actions had begun to grow in the heart of the hidden, fledging government. A deep revulsion for the old ways, and anything at all associated with them developed. Soon the Technocrats began to walk down strange and dangerous paths, leading to their most controversial action; the action which has made them be called unliving automatons from countless species over the ages: Random Genetic Recombination. Ak'Niki himself disputed this new development and insisted he be the one who would program the Artificial Intelligence responsible for the process, thus CARN was born. This process will be discussed in the physiology segment.

Distantly, as the Technocracy had begun to reach and grasp the heavens, others too had begun to rebel against the Quintesson. On the planet Cybertron, the long held down slaves had begun their rebellion. Being separated by a vast void of space; the Technocrats and Cybertronians were unaware that soon they would be unwittingly aiding each other. Despite their lack of knowledge regarding the other's action, The Technocrats, Cybertronians and Quintessons would be engaged in what is apparently the universe's favorite activity: War.

"Give two morons clubs and half of a good reason, and they'll beat the hell out of each other and call it civilized."

Hj'Nevk, Scribe of the Rk Barony

The Quintessons had arrived with a small battle-fleet in order to put down the Trikian Technocrats, on the belief that they were weak in comparison to the Quintesson Armada. The Technocrat forces not only defeated the Quintesson's battle-fleet but routed it. Naturally this struck the Imperial Majestrix of the Quintesson as quite a shock indeed. Coupled with the rebellion on Cybertron, the Quintesson found themselves trapped in between two crisies. They sent a nearly worthless force to Cybertron to attempt to regain order while they set the full strength of their military fleet against the Technocrats. Through the war that followed, the Technocrats became stronger and more intelligent. In the beginning it was almost a guerrilla war, then it grew to be an equal war. The armed Quintesson response prevented the Technocrats from resting on their laurels; in fact...it made them into a star power.

The initial ships of the Technocracy were next to worthless pieces of garbage, somewhat akin to present Cybertronian ships, barely capable of safely reaching space. Their pilots' skill, not their technology, provided the strength they used to stop the initial Quintesson military movement on their government. As the Quintesson attack escalated, the Technocrats began a rapid and more pragmatic development of their weapons and civilization. Not more than two years after the initial Quintesson attack, the Technocracy had seen to a casting down of the Matriarchy and the creation of its first line of capital ships.

War. The initial Technocracy-Quintesson conflict was possibly the most violent and bloody altercation ever to happen in their area of space. Planets found themselves forced to choose sides admist the bloody battling which occurred throughout at least a dozen stellar quadrants. The Quintessons enlisted or conscripted hundreds of races that they had been cultivating for a moment like this; the Technocracy spread out and assimilated worlds into itself in order to fill its ranks. Whole planets died on both sides, races and cultures were crushed beneath the psuedopods of the uncaring Quintesson and the culture-assimilating juggernaut of the Technocracy. The only planets, which seem to have benefited from this mindlessness, were Trikian and Cybertron. The war finally came to a thankful close with the Technocracy's erection of the Frontier generators. Frontier generators will be further discussed in the sub-entry regarding technology. Once the Quintesson and their forces had essentially been forced from the area primarily controlled by the Technocracy...the Technocracy began to solidify its holdings. The elation of the war's end was met also with a sudden sense of loss. Ak'Niki, disliking the growing hatred the Technocracy had for romantic love, departed into deep space with a promise to return when the Technocracy truly needed him to save it from itself. Despite the end of the war and the loss of Niki, the Technocracy did not cease its military development. The continual military buildup proved to be most intelligent as the Technocracy found its troops tested in putting down small uprisings, space-pirates and eventually...the Septhagen.

"The N'karlth call the Septhagen a race of devils, after fighting them, I'm inclined to agree."

Zkreg , Technocrat Soldier

The Septhagen washed across the Technocracy's borders like a flood of fire, on their unholy jihad of murder and destruction. The Technocracy, still dazed but ready from its conflict with the Quintesson, found itself in another war against a galactic power. The Septhagen were an ancient race, powerful and intelligent...possessed of nearly limitless technology and formidable psionic strength; the Technocracy soon found itself slowly being pushed back by their furious, chaotic onslaught. CARN, the Computer for Alternative Reproductive Natures...who was in charge of the Technocracy RGR process, began to centralize the genes related to psionic talent. Soon this new breed of Technocrats would be known as the Star Elite, ruthlessly intelligent, trained extensively, and skilled with their newfound mental powers...they were the equalizer in the war against the Septhagen. This war also led to the creation of a new capital ship theory for the Technocrats: The God's Hand starship line. The God's Hand line led to the creation of their present flagship: Levitan's Tears, an ungodly, moon-sized starship capable of destroying whole planets. Eventually, the Septhagen onslaught was broken...but the race had not been destroyed. Most of the broken remnants of the Septhagen fleet escaped into deep space...beyond even the sight of the Vorhang.

I am the Star! My warmth fills the void and gives light. Before I am extinguished, I push back the darkness...one last time!

Last words of Jknar, Red Star Elite.

The Star Elite, the heroes of the Septhagen war, soon found themselves being separated into separate groupings: Blue for Clairsentients, Red for Psychometabolics, Black for Psychokinetics and White for Telepaths. CARN limited the amount of beings who would have potential psionic abilities, so as to prevent any form of inner strife or a possible geno-civil war. The Elite have never revolted against the Technocracy, apart from the one rogue Black Star Elite who founded the Dark Star Fleet. Here, I will make an aside on the history of the Technocracy to describe the complete training intrinsic to a member of the Technocracy becoming a Star Elite. First, the individual in question must have exhibited some psionic potential. The Second requirement for a would-be member of the Star Elite is he must have an exceptional intellect; I have personally seen this process: the applicants are given sixty-five tests, each with a hundred questions and on different subjects, and must get a completely perfect score. Following this they are forced through a process of arduous physical training, I have heard comments from observers that say...after seeing the process they begin to understand why the name of the Star Elite is feared by brigands throughout Technocrat controlled space.

Following the reconstruction period after the Septhagen war, the Technocracy began to send out exploration teams...wanting to 'enlighten' even more worlds. One of these teams, lead by one General Ymir, landed on the planet known as Earth. There, the Technocracy began to attempt to convert the early humans to their...'enlightened' ways. The Technocracy also discovered that humanity was genetically compatible with the Trikians. Unfortunately, for the Technocracy, the elation that the Technocratic Matrix felt was short lived. Three humans managed to single out and somehow kill the larger Ymir. The death of Ymir lead to the rest of the Technocracy uprooting its various positions on Earth and heading back to their own controlled area. The names of Ymir's three murderers were Vili, Ve and Odin. Over time, and mythological spin doctoring, Odin became a god of a small insignificant pagan pantheon on Earth. Ymir became known as the Frost Giant, whose skull forms the sky.

The greater the person, the darker their shadow.

Trilgeti proverb.

During the expansion period, the Technocracy found itself rocked by internal strife for the first instant in its existence. Rxzentev, a member of the Black Star Elite, had begun to feel less then content with the way the Technocracy had been spreading across the stars. Despite a predisposition to call the Technocracy a culture based on conquest, they never assimilate a culture if it is unwilling. Zentev, was tired of seeing martyrs such as Ymir, he wanted to force the universe to conform to his belief system. Zentev was naturally viewed as an overzealous maniac, except by a few. STABS, Strategy, Tactical And Battle System, sided with Zentev and together with a few of Zentev's acolytes they stole eight Technocracy capital ships. STABS took over the controls of the ships' on-board CARN centers and began to produce telekinetic soldiers who were loyal to Zentev. Thus began the Dark Star Fleet. The fleet began a quiet reign of terror and is known through several systems as a completely evil entity. It is the DSF, which is responsible for most stories of Technocrat aggression. Fortunately, the DSF cannot retain a planetary holding for long because the Technocracy has dedicated sixteen warships to tracking them down and destroying them.

Recently the Technocracy has begun development of a Point-to-Point transportation system. This program is lead by Technician First Echelon Ryken. The PtP system has been used to attempt to teleport scouts or small ships from place to place. Unfortunately, for the Technocrats, this system is only eighty percent effective when it is performed without receptor equipment. Despite the relative lack of safety, Technocrat scouts seem ever anxious to enter the teleporter and get zapped off to a far away location. I fear what may happen if they perfect this system and emplace it on their capital ships. I also feel especially sorry for the terran populace; the Technocracy has apparently expressed a new interest in their 'star-brothers.'

Other events of late have pointed to a potentially serious change within the Technocracy. CARN has become surprisingly disagreeable with some of the tenants of the Technocracy, he would not rebel against them...but it leaves one to wonder why he has only started to speak up recently. The Star Elite training has also begun to take a different turn and in fact certain members of the Star Elite petitioned for the Technocratic Matrix to begin to again officially accept the existence of romantic love. On a strangely prophetic note, it seems as though certain Technocracy installations have received long-range radio communication from a certain individual. One can only hope that the rumors are true...and that Niki has returned to save his organization from itself.

Physiology.

Medical Understanding Level?

Noted. Low Complexity Level.

The Trikian organism is a carnivore. The present sentient species of the planet Trikian is derived from ancient carnivorous hunter animal. Also, due to the less then safe areas in which the Proto-Trikian developed, they have certain physiological defenses of note. I shall attempt to list said developments in lay terms. Typically a Trikian stands between twenty to thirty terran feet, weighs several terran tons and can run at speeds of about thirty to thirty-five terran miles per around at full lilt.

- Exterior Characteristics:

One cannot help but notice the claws or temple ridges of the Trikian. The claws date back to the ancient times when the Trikian ancestor-animal was forced to eviscerate other creatures to gain sustenance. The claws are specially developed skin cells; they are still a formidable natural weapon and have not become vestigial over the millennia of development. Trikian claws are capable of rending through even six-inches of duro-steel. Trikian females possess claws on their hands and feet; males only possess hand claws. Trikian claws are non-retractable and regenerate when lost, in a manner not unlike when a terran grows back a fingernail. The temple ridges of the Trikian are a vestigial holdover of their primordial cranial defense structure. Ancient Trikians had a network of bone surrounding their head which served as almost a natural helmet, somewhat akin to the antlers of some herbivore species, over the years this was bred out and all that remains are the ridges from where the network would have initiated.

- Internal Characteristics

-Heart: The Trikian heart is a powerful pumping device. Due to the necessity for greater circulation the Trikian possess two eight-chambered hearts.

-Lungs: The Trikian lung is capable of intaking and holding air for an extended period of time. It is also much more economical in oxygen processing then its human counterpart. The Trikian is equipped with two lungs, but due to their effectiveness they are capable of providing sufficient oxygen to the entire organism.

-Digestive System: Heavily geared towards carnivore behavior even after all of these millennia, it is beginning to gain the capability to digest vegetable matter correctly...but the change is occurring very slowly. Trikians are capable of digesting flesh, fatty tissue, bone, and certain metals. Technocrat digestive systems are augmented, allowing them to digest nearly one hundred percent of everything they ingest. Technocrats very rarely expel any form of waste.

-Skeletal System: The Trikian Skeleton is built solidly. Trikian leg-bones are thick and therefore capable of holding the massive being upright. The Trikian ribcage completely covers the organs contained within, leaving only parts of the digestive tract uncovered. The Trikian skull still retains vestigial ridges on its temple. The Trikian mouth is primarily incisors with very few, relatively new chewing and intermediary teeth. The teeth of a Trikian typically last only twenty, twenty-four hour days before being expelled and replaced. New Tooth production continues until death.

-Special Notes:

-Trikians are capable of regenerating neural tissue.

-Trikians are bizarrely, genetically compatible with the terran race. Oddly enough they even share basically the same reproductive organ structures.

-Unlike in the human species, Trikian females also have the potential to be colorblind.

-Trikian blood is a universal donor to most mammalian types.

-Trikian typically live for a period of 150 years, Technocrat Trikians tend to live to ages of 250.

Random Genetic Recombination (RGR):

Definition: The process used primarily by the Trikian Technocracy for purposes of sexual reproduction without intercourse. Said process takes two genetic samples and introduces them to each other as would occur within the womb. This process creates a new genetic life form and bypasses the dead ends, which occur due to cloning. Although this process may seem like cloning, it is not, it is more akin to sexual reproduction in a bottle.

Language: This section is by no means complete and contains only basic information about the Trikian language. Remember that the Trikian language is primarily based on inflection of words, not the words themselves, thusly this prevents any attempt to classify their language next to impossible. No one can speak Trikian as well as a native speaker.

Verbs: The Trikian language contains only one irregular verb: the word 'keth' which is the rough equivalent of the English word 'is.' All other words follow a regular verb progression.

Nomenclature system: Trikian nomenclature is somewhat similar to that of most pre-surname nomenclature. The only major difference lies in the bizarre naming system of the Technocracy.

Trikian Nomenclature:

Example: Ty'Neval (Mother) + Fl'Zelak (Father) = Ty'(given name)

Technocrat nomenclature system:

Example: Tyneval (Female genetic donor) + Flzelak (Male genetic donor) = Tf(given name)

Ship naming: The Technocrats are the only Trikian culture to establish a true form of spaceflight. Technocrat ships are named in homage of past Technocrat heroes exploits. These references tend to be very vague.

Example: Levitan's Tears, Jell's Tern, Rek's Nevals.

Technology:

Generic Technology:

Frontier Generator: The Frontier generator is a device, devised at (as) the closing of Quintesson-Trikian war, which disables Quintesson biomechanics. Frontier generators render Quintesson starships, and Quintessons themselves, dormant. Frontier generators are easily produced but require certain items for their construction, which I am not at liberty to disclose here.

Point to Point Transportation system: This system is the Technocrat method of sending teams, or small ships, across infinite distances in seconds. Unfortunately (fortunately), the PtP transporter only has an 80 percent probability of success, and that is under only the best conditions.

Inertial Damper: Inertial Dampers are primarily worn by people in need of an almost foolproof defense system. They utilize large amounts of energy but protect against virtually all forms of projectile weaponry. The inertial damper stops all inertial movement towards the individual wearing the ID system. Ships capable of going FTL are also equipped with much larger and much more fuel-efficient versions of Inertial Dampers.

Artificial Intelligences: Technocrats are masters at producing Artificial intelligences, so much so that they consider them actual citizens. The number of AIs easily numbers over one hundred. Strangely enough, except for isolated problems like STABS, said AIs tend to not go on ego driven killing sprees like one would expect. Perhaps due to their treatment as individuals and not as machinery.

Star Ship Technology: Technocrats are in possession of class alpha starships, they are second only to the Greffan in their usefulness. Technocrat warships, a subject, which will further be examined in the section on the military, are renowned as one of the single most fearsome group of starships in the known universe. Technocrat made heavy starships can also withstand a collision while moving at low FTL or high sublight speeds. Like all other star going races, the Trikians primarily rely on Greffan warp gates for all long-range travel.

Drive Technology: The primary source of starship energy processing drives is the dark matter drive. Trikian capital ships utilize the dark matter of the universe, through microscopic openings on the surface of the ship, and use the dark energy to provide the necessary energy. This process is akin to the gills of a fish swimming through water.

Nature-replacement technology: The Technocrats, in their obsession to replace nature, have also begun to develop such things as fully functional artificial trees, grass, and in some rare cases…soil. One cannot help but shudder at the potential of this race to one day begin construction of whole artificial planets.

Uniforms: Technocrat uniforms are in reality genetically modified creatures, which feed off of grime and dirt. This is why Technocrats do not require bathing to remain in their state of almost perpetual cleanliness; this is also why Technocrat uniforms seem to repair themselves.

Elite Armor: Elite Armor functions on the same basic premise as the uniforms of the rest of the technocracy. The only difference is that the Technocrat armor utilizes part of the Elite's DNA to create itself. Elite Armor also utilizes a bizarre form of spatial displacement, the armor in reality when disabled breaks itself down and becomes dormant in each of the Elite's cells…upon its reactivation it essentially grows itself anew. All Elite armor reflects its user in someway, and as time progresses it begins to act as a modifiable second skin. The Armor, when adapted sufficiently, allows the Elite to mold it into almost any form imaginably. Elite armor is also omni-enviromental, and can store sufficient air to allow the Elite to survive for 4 hours.

Medical Technology:

Cybernetics: Cybernetic replacements are many and varied. Almost all Technocrats possess the neural linkage they receive on their second day after birth: the device through which their child-hoods are stolen from them and replaced with a premature maturity. Cybernetics also includes a wide variety of weapons, and omni-tools. The typical technocrat also has small devices built into his ocular system, which allows for him to perceive better, as well as record. The Digestive system has also been modified.

Medicine and Medical Treatments: Technocrats are skilled in many methods of treatment, in various species. Their medical knowledge is on par with all other equally powerful races, with the exception of the Quintesson who have a small lead.

Military:

The Technocrat Military is its backbone; it is also a major pacifying force within the Technocrat controlled sector. Many small time thieves fear the sight of the giant hand-shaped Technocrat capital ships cutting through the ebony darkness of the void. Technocrat ships are easy matches for those of most other nations of the star-power class. The Septhagen and the Velta each possess ships, which are more powerful than Technocrat ships on a one-to-one basis, with the exception of the flagship.

-The Technocrat Starships.

"I looked up and saw the Technocrat flagship blocking out the light of our sun and I thought, 'This is the Technocrat way.'"

Navalla, philosopher of the planet Nitan.

-Capital Ships: The Technocrat Capital ship is a triumph of destructive ship design. Technocrat capital ships are as large as a Quintesson Glex-class dreadnought. Each of the Capital ships has the capability to destroy half a dozen beta class ships each with their full compliment of fighters before being destroyed itself. Each capital ship also contains a 'quell' of technocrat fighter craft. A quell of fighters is a contingent of 100 fighter craft which operate as a single fluid entity in combat.

-Fighter craft (only commonly used craft listed)

  1. Jelta J-9: Modifiable mode fighter craft. Capable of sublight speeds and atmospheric travel. Ship functions as an offensive attack ship, primarily by using its alternative mode, that of an arrow-shaped ram.
  2. Denovent K-10: Workhorse fighter of the Technocracy, shaped like a humanoid fist with the pilot held protectively in the center. It also possesses type-N missiles and proton cannons. Its attacks are complimented with its ability to function as a ram. Space-capable only.
  3. Lytax X-1214: Experimental Hyperspace fighter. Design cannot be disclosed at this time.
  4. Vento B-7: Fighter-Bomber class ship. Ship resembles humanoid fist and forearm, heavy payload craft…functions only in space.
  5. Akiva K-09: Atmospheric fighter craft, high maneuverability and highly armed. Primarily used against ground targets.

Flagship: The Levitan's Tears.

The Levitan's Tears is the first of the God's Hand class of starship design. Created during the Septhagen war it has continued in constant service and is widely considered to be one of (if not the) most powerful warship of any star-power at this time. The ship contains 20 quells worth of fighters and is the size of a large moon. The gunnery systems of the ship include the TWINK defensive array, inertial dampers, top-secret hull design and enough offensive weaponry to destroy an entire planet or a fleet of starships.

Weapons Technology (extremely abridged):

TWINK defensive array: Defensive system in use on Technocrat space stations and their flagship. It creates a large circular energy force-field which contracts into a cone and finally into a tight beam around an attacking force, it can only be escaped by flying out of the open area of the cone before it closes…the system activates and completes its attack in a period of three seconds.

Evap-Cannon: Weapon, which functions on the scientific theory of evaporation. The target's atoms each accelerate to extreme levels of energy and break from their solid state into a gas.

Gauss rifle/pistol: The most common weapon of the Technocracy. Common sidearm of soldiers and officers. Utilizes a metallic projectile propelled at super-sonic force by a magnetic system.

Kiy-Weapon: The weapon of choice of the Star Elite. Created by the Elite's aura it is an extension of the Elite's psionic presence…as such it is totally at the Elite's discretion its size and characteristics. It is considered a superior melee weapon.

Military Personnel:

Star Elite: Previously mentioned, the Star Elite are the single strongest and most fierce-some force in the Technocrat military machine. Each Elite can singularly take out a small legion, and it has been claimed that high level elite have even destroyed whole capital ships single-handed.

Elite has five tiers of rank they develop as follows.

First Echelon

-First Echelon Elite are the most powerful; there are only ten first Echelon Elite at anytime. A single first echelon elite can destroy entire armies of societies of comparable power levels to the technocracy.

Second Echelon

-Second Echelon Elite serve as the generals and high-ranking officers of the Star Elite corps. They typically have a full meld with their armor and a frightening grasp of their psionic talents.

Third Echelon

-Third Echelon Elite are the most common type of Elite. Elite encountered on ships or in offensive forces are most commonly third echelon. These individuals are partially melded with their armor typically and have a useful, but not planet-shattering hold on their psionics.

Fourth Echelon

-Fourth Echelon are novice Elite, Elite are expected to qualify for the Third Echelon at least by their second year as a fourth echelon or they are sent back to the fifth echelon.

Fifth Echelon

-Fifth Echelon Elite are trainees in the Elite corps.

Military Subdivisions:

Elite: See above.

Teletrevek: The intelligence division. Widely disliked and viewed as dishonest and too akin to the DSF for the liking of most. Are rumored to use less then correct methods to better the Technocrat cause. Hostile towards the Elite.

Psycher corps: Psionics who do not qualify are placed into the Psycher corps. The Psycher corps functions along side basic military units, aiding them with psionic abilities. Psychers can possess comparable psionic strength to Star Elite, and follow the same basic rank structure.

Basic Military: Common Military Troopers, not including military technical corps.

Technical corps: Technicians, Medics, and other exceptionally skilled non-combatants.

Culture:

A tale is told of a tree.

God looked on the universe and he made a tree, its fruits made those who ate strong and vibrant and full of happiness. God said, "I shall give this tree to the life which I have created, that they may be happy."

God looked and saw the Vorhang, and he said to them, "Guard this tree and grow strong." The Vorhang catalogued every branch and counted every piece of bark but they had forgotten about the taste of the fruit and they grew weak. God wept and took the tree from the Vorhang.

God looked and saw the Septhagen, and he said to them, "Guard this tree and grow strong." The Septhagen set up barriers around the tree and claimed that only they deserved the fruits and the world grew weak around them. God wept and took the tree from the Septhagen.

God looked and saw the Velta, and he said to them, "Guard this tree and grow strong." The Velta shook their heads and wagged their tentacles and said, "We are not worthy of this tree." God attempted to convince them other wise, but they grew weak from the lack of the tree's fruit. God wept and took the tree from the Velta.

God looked and saw the Quintesson, and he said to them, "Guard this tree and grow strong." The Quintesson said they made the tree, and refused to give the fruit to the others. Their tentacles could not reach the branches and all grew weak. God wept and took the tree from the Quintesson.

God looked and saw the Technocrats, and he said to them, "Guard this tree and grow strong." The Technocrats refused the tree and claimed that its fruit was bitter and made one evil. They grew so weak that the color drained from their faces. God wept and took the tree from them.

God looked and saw the Cybertronians, and he said to them, "Guard this tree and grow strong." The Cybertronians zealously guarded the tree, but they fought and feuded over how to best defend it. They grew weak for they forgot the tree entirely. God wept and took the tree from them.

God at last saw the Terrans, and he said to them, "Guard this tree and grow strong." The Terrans looked up and smiled to God and said, "But Lord…we have always guarded this tree. Let us carry its fruits to those who have none." God wept with joy. The name of the tree was love.

Fable of the Tree

Anonymous.

I felt this quotation appropriate to setting the proper feeling of describing Technocrat culture. Technocrats are often described as…lacking something. Their laughter seems too forced at times, or their smiles seem as realistic as a child's drawing of a smiling face. Perhaps it is because they have denied love for so long that they have lost any joy of life they once held, perhaps they never had that joy to begin with.

Humor:

Technocrats are a dour race, but they are capable of laughter and joviality…in extreme moderation. The comparative ratio of battle-scars to laugh-lines in the Technocracy is sickening. Technocrat humor, like most humanoid humor is based on ludicrous situations, bathroom humor (although no sex), slapstick and in some cases…math equations with obviously wrong replies.

Example:

Q: What is the Try-rack sine route of the fifth digit of pi sub-alpha one?

A: 8! HA!!!

Don't worry if you do not find it funny, no one seems to find it amusing…aside from certain machines, engineers, technocrats and various other boring people.

Recreation: Technocrats typically recreate by working on small personal projects, doing math, sleeping, repairing ancient equipment, or reading.

-Zek'Lah: Trikian game akin to chess consisting of 3 stacked boards and 30 pieces (each side gets 15 pieces) Each of the 30 pieces is totally unique and functions in its own unique way. It is considered a game of extreme complexity and is played primarily by tacticians.

Superstitions:

I feel that the subject of superstitions should be addressed prior to description of the actual Technocrat religion because I am not a theologian, I am merely a Historian...and not a particularly good one.

The Jell's Tern: The most infamous ship in the Technocrat fleet, or more correctly…infamous ships. Named after Ni'Jell, Ak'Niki's lieutenant. Ni'Jell is said to have suffered from extreme levels of bad luck, but each disaster in his life caused great good at some later point. There have been 7890 ships named The Jell's Tern, all have befallen disaster and have had only one survivor. That survivor always inexplicably grows to greatness in some way.

The Walker in the Shadows: Supposedly an individual's anti-self. The Elite claim that this being is responsible for the slow emotional decline of the Technocracy, not because he exists…but because too many ignore him and give him too much power until they exist only to fight him. The Walker is also said to play a major part in those suffering from 'The Rage.'

Vego's Boost: The mythical ship claimed to have been captained by Ak'Vego, a noted scientist. Supposedly the ship harnessed the power of Vego's hopes and dreams and propelled him faster then anything had ever gone. The phrase Vego's Boost is used in regards to any situation, which is bettered because an individual had hope and determination.

Technocrats also dislike flying in Cybertronian made ships. I list this as a superstition but to be frank, do you blame them?

Religion:

Technocrat worship is monotheistic; their God is the same omnipotent, omniscient deity worshipped under a thousand other names on a thousand other worlds. As is typical, they rarely worship him…instead merely claiming that they worship him. Since you are a lazy person and have chosen the abridged version, I will be brief. The Technocrats primarily believe that God will send a part of himself to our universe to die for everyone's sins. The Technocrats believe that the planet on which God's being appears is where the answers, which will lead to salvation shall originate.

Food: Despite what one would expect Technocrat food is quite tasty…if you enjoy meat and starch. Typically technocrat cuisine consists of a good deal of meat, hot spices, and starches. This list is by no means complete, only four entries follow describing basic food types.

Dregal Roots: The basic starch of the Technocracy and non-technocrat Trikians. The Dregal root is derived from the Dregal plant, which has poisonous leaves.

Alcohol: Technocrats tend to enjoy their spirits, having a much more economical system allows for them to process alcohol extremely quickly. One would best avoid Trikian brews as they typically contain alcohol levels, which would be fatal to other races of similar biology.

Nevalk: Bovine race of animal which serves as the primary meat source for the Technocracy and the Trikian race…unbelievably stupid but rumored to be quite tasty. Nevalk blood is also utilized as a beverage by the Trikian race.

B'hjalk: A worm like species, which is fried while alive and then cut into circular sections and eaten. When cooked it tastes like cured meat and cheese and its outer skin becomes almost bread-like.

Common phrases:

Since most often the Technocrat will learn a basic understanding of a language he speaks, but will retain his own speech patterns, its best to understand some phrases.

Key Aff: Yes most assuredly. Based on the concept that the Key allows for one to move and grow, leading to experiencing the world and seeing the truth.

Lock Neg: No most assuredly. Based on the concept that a Lock blocks growth and movement and is therefore most associated with the word no.

May the Will of the Divine Purpose be With You: Common phrase used as a goodbye, especially in situations where the speaker fears he will never see the individual again. In a way he is requesting that God change his plans to better the individual…and that the almighty will lead the individual away from pain and unhappiness…when a Technocrat says it ninety-percent of the time he means it.

Tag off: Technocrat way of saying, "Back off," "Go Away," or "Go to hell."

Stand in the fire with me: Technocrat request of an individual to come with him into an extremely dangerous situation…derived from the words of Ak'Niki to the founders of the Technocracy shortly after its founding: Stand with me in the fire, it shall temper the mettle of our souls.

Social Classes:

There are three social distinctions in the Technocracy

  1. Military
  2. Worker
  3. Technical/science

All classes are considered equal, provided they each possess similar ranks. Worker class possesses ten different echelons of rank, technical possesses nearly 20.

Government: The Technocracy is a socialistic combine based on the ideal of 'rulership by the most skilled.' CARN however has seen to it that all are of intelligence needed to be able to enter into the Technocratic Matrix, which is the true ruling body of the Technocracy. The Technocratic Matrix is the symbiosis of all of the available minds of the Technocracy…acting in a truly democratic way to come to decisions. The exchange of information is rapid and has nothing to do with emotions, merely with scientific logic and information transfer…the matrix is also useful in combat situations. Technocrats 'enter' the matrix via in-built neural cybernetics. Artificial Intelligences are considered citizens and may enter the matrix and vote on issues.

The Speaker of the Matrix acts as the figurehead leader to outside governments, he is chosen by the Matrix as an anonymous figure, his identity not revealed until after he has been elected.

The Rage: The Rage is a psychological disorder, which occurs in approximately one percent of the Technocrat populous at a time. The Rage is evidenced by three stages, when the victim reaches the third stage he is reduced to nothing more then a gibbering madman.

Stage 1: At stage one the Technocrat begins to feel a certain perpetual unease. Occasionally he hears whispers when it is quiet, that seemingly have no source. He becomes even more reclusive, secretive, and has trouble sleeping. The Rage can be stopped easily at this stage through use of behavior modifying drugs.

Stage 2: Stage two is the last chance for a cure. At stage two the victim begins to suffer severe hallucinations where he is forced to face 'the walker in shadows.' Since most Technocrats run from the walker this results in a growing psychological disorder which eventually leads to Stage three. The only cure at Stage two is to completely abandon the Technocrat life and embrace life…while this seems unbelievably simply, for a Technocrat is it a horror.

Stage 3: By Stage three the individual is gone. Reduced to nothing more then a gibbering animal, obsessed with its own self-destruction.
