Here it is, one of the great power moves in breakdancing. First of all, I have to warn you that if you want to learn this move, you have to be ready for bruises, and you are going to be in for a lot of practice. This move is probably almost impossible to imagine unless you've seen a windmill before. It basically looks like that you are rolling from your upper back to your shoulders, and then back onto your back again. However, your legs are spread and your body will be spinning while you are rolling. This is what you do:
(These directions are for rotating counterclockwise)
Start out in a handglide position except your legs are on the ground. Then, kick your left up into the air and to the left. If you kicked hard enough, your right leg should automatically come off the ground too. As soon as your right is off the ground, kick REALLY hard to your right with your right leg (Don't really KICK as in bending your knees and then kick out, but more like swinging your right leg to your right as hard as you can). If you kick hard enough, you should feel all of your weight going to your left side. (*) Now, swing your left leg as hard as you can under your right leg (Your legs should still be spread. You have to think of your legs as a compass, and your hip is the pivot poing, so your legs are basically spread at all times). When your are in the motion of swinging your left over to your right, you've got to push with your hands so that you can gain more speed and it also helps you prevent touching your feet on the ground. You can rather do two things with your hands. You can collapes your left are but push really hard with your right hand to your right so that you will land on your left shoulder and then roll onto your back. If you are not comfortable with the idea of falling on your left should, then you can push off with both hands to your right. However, I have to warn you that it is better for you to collapes your left arm because when you push off with both hands, you will most likely end up plopping on to your back and that will slow down you windmill and also leave you a big bruise. Anyway, it's up to you to decide. Once you've chosen whichever way you want to go with your hands, you should practice going from your front to your back over and over. Most people will tell you to go into a backspin after you've landed on your back because you have to have this part of the move down cold. Your feet should never touch the ground until you've stopped your windmills. If you think you are ready to move onto part two...then be my guest.
PART 2 If you are reading this part of the instructions, then you should be able to do the first part of my instructions with no problem. Anyway, this is what you do to continue your rotations: Once you are on your back, your legs should be spread and not touching the ground. Quickly roll from your upper back to your right shoulder. Keep your right arm near your right side. Once you are on your right shoulder, push up with your right arm, and quickly tuck your left arm under your stomache. You should be in the position that you were once in before. Now, repeat the instructions from the (*) sign to continue your rotations. Trust me, you won't be able to do decent windmills within a week. It took me practicing 2 hours a day for two months just to get 5 decent roatations. Now, I can do up to 10 and I still need to get more. The hardest part about the windmill is perhaps spreading your legs and trying to prevent them from hitting the floor. Patience is the key, and also a lot of practice.

Here are ways to improve your windmills:
If you feel that your windmills are pretty much fine and and continue it but just need more speed...then try pushing harder and kicking harder.
If you have trouble getting back onto your hands again...try taking drives with your hips and kick backwards and up with you right to get back onto you hands.
If you want to start you windmills with a lot of spped...try not using you elbow for the first rotation. Simply do your six-step the same. but instead of wrapping your right leg around your left...swind your right leg under you left and jump over your right with your left. In the middle of that motion, your two hands should be supporting you. However...instead of stabbing your elbow, just roll onto you shoulders. This may take a little practice but you'll be amazed at how fast you can go after you get this down.
