This book tells the tale of the many ill-fortunate happenings that befell our kinsmen in the Nightstalkers.  Some passed on, meeting a less than noble death.  Others fared worse, becoming creatures of the night through repeated acts of evil or through some twist of fate that brought them back, but not as they once were.  It is because of these individuals that we have gotten as far as we have in our struggles. 
Almost all of us Nightstalkers has been affected by the evil we seek to destroy.  Most of our present members carry disfigurements and would most likely be crippled if not for the magical healing of priests and assorted magical trinkets we found along the way.
We maintain this somber look at past and present members of our society so that others can learn from their mistakes, not to repeat them.  We also hope this book succeeds in "weeding" out those who are faint of heart and who lack the courage neccessary to up arms against the ever-rising hordes of evil. 
Look to these bloody pages and remember, to fight with us and to join our society is to put your life on the line. It is not hopeless though, if we save just one life, win one soul back over to the light of goodness, or send a spirity to its final resting place then we are accomplishing our goal and helping out these lands we call home.
