History
At the beginning of the Iron Age in North Asia, tribes in Korea
formed leagues and built what is now known as the Three Kingdoms.
Paekche and Buya were prominent in the south, Koguryo in the north. By
the first century AD, Koguryo was firmly established as a state power.
Koguryo fought off the Chinese invasion, then came into conflict with
Paekche in the late 4th century. Buya also grew in power and tested the
might of Koguryo.
Whilst embattled, the Three Kingdoms welcomed Buddhism. All Three
Kingdoms eventually adopted the Confucian Buddhist hierarchy, with the
king at the pinnacle. State codes were initiated and a legal system of
rule began.
Subsequently, Buya became more powerful than the other Kingdoms. It
formed a voluntary social organization called the Hwarang or “flower of
youth” corps and it succeeded in exerting both military and cultural
influence over the other Kingdoms. In Koguryo, an elite anti-Hwarang
group arose that believed in loyalty to the king, filial piety and was
led by a succession of strong male Primogens under the rule of Prince
Mhul.
Birth of a Clan
Into this clan was born to Primogen Troll and Princess Shadowelf one
girl child named NinaP. She lived and breathed in the shadows of her
parents rule. Forever at her parents footsteps, she soon was leading
Kindred into battles and helping gather tributes for the Prince.
Then one fateful day, an evil vengeful god struck down Troll and
Shadowelf. All of Koguryo mourned, yet the family was held together by
Primogen Omi. NinaP continued in her duties yet she missed the spirit
of her father's rule. As she grew and searched for Truth she realized
she could no longer serve an anti-Hwarang ruler and she chose to make a
pilgrimage to Buya to visit her life long friend, Princess Lasahn.
That was in the Fall of Yuri 28. Many were the young fellow-kindred who
made this trek with her and many more were soon to join this family as
news spread throughout the Kingdoms of this diverse group that believed
so strongly in the abilities of each of its members. And that, dear
friend, is how the Birth of Dharma Clan came to be.
