Sony PSP and PS3

PSP is the handheld gaming console of Sony. Actually to call it simply a gaming system is unfair because PSP allows its users to listen to music, watch videos (and UMD movies), view pictures and browse the Internet as well.

I own a PSP for about a year. I spent days playing and messing with it when I first got it but gradually I've lost my interest in it and now it is just sitting somewhere in my room. My PSP came with 1.51 version of firmware. I immediately upgraded it to version 2.00 and then downgraded to 1.50 and voila! Firmware version 1.50 allows you to run homebrew applications as well as downloaded games (This is what I've heard of course ;) )

I played Kingdom of Paradise and Winning Eleven 9 on my PSP the most. Kingdom of Paradise is a Real-Time RPG game (which wasn't very easy to find when PSP first came out). It has a good story. You are this Japanese guy killing evil ninjas with special sword blows in order to defeat a clan which tries to gain supremacy over other peaceful clans. As for Winning Eleven, it is a soccer game that has its own fans. It's probably the most realistic soccer game.

A memory stick is needed for sure to run homebrew applications and/or downloaded games. Sony and Sandisk offers memory sticks that are compatible with PSP's.PSP plays UMD's (universal media disc). UMD has a capacity of 1.8 GB and is used to store data such as games, movies, music etc.

Playstation 3 is finally out in the States. People formed long lines and even camped outside the stores in order to get their hands on one of these eagerly-awaited gaming systems. PS3 came out in two options: Standard version which comes with a 20 GB hard-disk and Premium version with a 60 GB hard-disk. The prices are $499 and $599 respectively.

As expected, PS3's in stores lasted only minutes before those who waited in the line for hours (and even days in some places) could get theirs. If you want one right now, you don't really have any option other than Ebay. Premium PS3's are going for around $1200. (Not bad for a $600 investment) However, there were units sold on Ebay for $2500-$3000 before it was even available in stores. (Supply-demand story)
