This is what happened:
In the beginning, there was Oblivion, and she was lonely. She created company for herself, and so doing, killed herself, because there cannot be Oblivion where other things exist. The company were (roughly) male and female, and in later ages became known as the Creators. They did not create the Universe, except as a byproduct of their own coming into being. They did, however, create the seven gods: seven consciousnesses who experimented with the universe and discovered certain laws about it. They also created bodies for themselves and for a tenth and final consciousness.
Although not a very important person in this mythology, I've been told that it's all my fault.
