| Wicca is Witchcraft, and all Wiccans are Witches | Wicca is a nature based 'faith' comprising of many paths, some Wiccans may be 'witches' but not all 'witches' are Wiccan. |

| All Wiccans belong to a coven | Some Wiccans belong to a circle/group/coven of people who follow the same or similar path. Some are solitary. |
| Wicca is a 'secret society' | Well, you're reading this - not very secret if you ask me, many books can be found in the library and there are many resources available on the web. |
| You must be 'initiated' by another Wiccan before you can be Wiccan yourself | Their is no secret initiation, some groups will hold a 'dedication' ceremony when a new person enters their group. Most people are drawn to Wicca, and learn as much as possible before deciding to become Wiccan - It is a big commitment as is any religion or faith and is not taken lightly. Some solitary Wiccans will perform their own personal 'dedication ritual' or similar. |
| Wiccans meet under the full moon for their sabbat | The moon is important to Wiccans and many will 'celebrate' the phases of the moon. Wiccan sabbaths occur mainly at season equinoxes etc., they celebrate the circle of life and nature. |
| All Wiccans are Vegetarian, Greenies, Hippy, anti technology etc. | Wiccans understand the balance inherent in life, I for example, live
in a small town just outside the city, with a fair amount of land, and
views over the sea, I have 6 animals, and I am Semi vegetarian, I support
'green' ideals etc. - but I also have a rather hi-tech home, between
4 and 5 computers at any time, I drive a car, eat processed food, and so
forth.
Wiccans are normal people with normal lives. How they choose to live it is their business. |
| Wicca is a cult | Wicca is a belief system, a faith and in some areas is recognized as an official religion. Cults are about 'control'. Not only is Wicca not about control, but generally anyone who has observed Wiccans for any period of time would know that Wiccans are the most 'unorganized' bunch around. |
| Wiccans try to lure christians to become evil pagans | Not true. Most Wiccans will strongly suggest that you learn all you can before contemplating becoming Wiccan. |
