Province of Ulster
The Giants Causeway; stretches from Ireland to Scotland, and the legend surrounding it, in true Irish fashion, is a romantic one. Legend has it that this phenomen is the handiwork of Fionn MacCumhail (Finn MacCool), who was so enamored of a lady in the Hebrides Island off the Scottish coast that he laid the stones as a walkway over which to cross the sea to her.
- All the gorgeous scenery in Ulster... from the gentle shoreline of County Down with the romantic Mountains of Mourne that sweep down into the sea to the Marble Arch caves and Derry's ancient city walls to Armagh's two cathedrals, one Protestant, one Catholic, and both named from St Patrick, who loved to holiday in this region. All that gorgeous scenery does more than delight the eyes, it inspires the mind with ancient tales of CuChulainn who roamed here, single handedly guarding the boarder against the onslaught of Queen Maeve when she set out to capture the Brown Bull of Cooley. The people are no less charming with there lilting Republic brogue that is made of a mix of true Irish and British speech.
