Dilutions for External Use
General use is usually a 2 % dilution ratio, for babies and sensitive skin use a 1 % ratio.
Massage Oil: application of choice, as well as the safest. 2 or 3 % dilution is best
Bath: 2 to 10 drops per tub. Careful with lemon grass, citrus, basil, and mint.
Mouthwash: 2 drops per 1/2 cup of water
Inhalant: 6 - 12 drops per 1 qaurt of water. Boil the water, cool 1 minute, add the oils and inhale for 2 - 5 minutes.
Douche: 5 to 10 drops per quart of water.
Remedial Recipes
Abrasions: Clean the area with 5 drops of Lavender (Tea Tree or Thyme) diluted in a bowl of warm water. This also works for insect bites/stings and small cuts or wounds.
Athlete's Foot: Make up a mixture of 2 drops Tea Tree and 1 drop Lavender, spread over and between toes with a cotton ball. Or massage feet with 5 drops Tea Tree and 1 drop Lemon diluted in 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil.
Bleeding: Apply a compress of 1 drop Geranium, 1 drop Lemon and 1 drop Chamomile.
Chapped Skin: Massage the area, including face and lips, with 10 drops Geranium, 10 drops Chamomile, 5 drops Lemon, 5 drops Lavender, diluted in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
Common Cold: Mix 2 drops of each Thyme, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus and Lemon into a hot bath. This also brings some relief for the flu.
Coughs: For a dry cough; Mix 2 drops Eucalyptus and 2 drops Lemon with 2 tablespoons of honey, take 1 teaspoon of this mix dissolved into a wine glass of warm water. Sip slowly and repeat as necessary.
Stomach Upsets: Make a drink 1 drop peppermint to a teaspoon of honey and dilute in a mug of warm water. Sip slowly. This also works for heartburn, diarrehea, air and motion sickness.
Headaces: Mix 3 drops Lavender, 1 drop Peppermint and 2 drops vegetable oil, massage 1 drop of this into temples and along the hairline.
PreMenstrual Symptoms: Four formulas based on moods which can be mixed and matched as needed. These are added to a warm to hot bath; or can be mixed with 2 tablespoons of a carrier oil and massaged in.
Essential Oil uses for everday stress
In an office atmosphere, lethargy and headaches are common. Colds are also more common due to the recirculating air-conditioned atmosphere. So for these work enviroments the essential oils of Grapefruit and Eucalytus lemon for lethargy, Lavender for headaches, Tea tree, Rosemary, Grapefruit to aid in preventing and alleviating the cold type symptoms.
Massage Oils
After Play Soother: (For wind burn and sun burn.) Mix 10 drops of each Chamomile, Geranium and Lavender with 1 teaspoon of each Jojoba oil, Sesame oil, Evening Primrose oil and 1 tablespoon of Almond oil. Blend well and apply as needed.
Back Pain: A choose your favorite massage oil. Mix each formula with 2 tablespoons of vegetable or Almond oil and massage in where and as needed.
Workaholics: Mix 10 drops of each Lemon and Lavender, 5 drops of each Neroli (Sweet Orange) and Geranium with 2 tablespoons vegetable or Almond oil.

Scented Odds & Ends
A drop of basil [sniffed] on a tissue or or straight from the bottle revives a tired mind.
A whiff of peppermint calms a queasy stomach.
The smell of lavendar, neroli (sweet orange), lemongrass or linden blossom can calm and help you sleep. Keep a bottle by your bed for when you can't sleep.
