HOPE FLOATS
Okay, this was not the average romantic-comedy. Although it had it's funny moments, I don't think it qualifies as comedy. Romantic-drama? maybe. Sandra Bullock was good, as usual. Harry Conick Jr. was a strange romantic lead, but a good one. Not typical, but the best never are. It did have some severely gut spliting moments, and a few tear jerking ones. See it when you have a good matinee time!

GODZILLA
This film was okay. The effects were great!!!! As I predicted, there was no blood, as Matthew Brodrick is in it (don't know the connection, but I knew that's how it would be). In the words of my mother however "Less talk, More Rock." Hank Azaria was GREAT, as usual, and the monster was cool (although, my mother kept saying that it just WASN'T Godzilla, she wanted the old prototype). Good for mindless action, but be warned of the female lead. The character was not appealing, and was actually fairly annoying!
The Big Hit
This was also good for mindless action, with a good helping of comedy. DO NOT GO to this film looking for a straight action flick. You will be disappointed. However, if you want some good laughs, coupled with alot of Guns..this is the movie. Of course, you have to be able to look at Mark Whalburg, and not think of Dirk Diggler. Lou Diamond Philips looks SO sleezy, you just gotta hate/love him. See it, laugh alot, and then go home. That's all the thinking it takes.
Reviews BEFORE June
The Game
Okay,I finally saw this one on video after reading a review of it in the comic book Knights of the Dinner Table (which, by the way, is classic if you are a gammer!!!). The film definitly had its good points. Michael Douglas can act, and Sean Penn wasn't too nauseating. The plot, well, it could have been a little less confusing, and a little less predicitable. However, if you've ever played a role-playing game, or really hated rich snobs, this is a good one to get on video, perhaps on a discount day.
Palmetto
Okay, I'll give you two things: Woody Harelson is an alright actor, and Elizabeth Shue is now a long cry from Adventures in Babysitting. Now, with that said, what the hell was the point of this film? It was about 30 minutes too long, the first hour was too slow, and by the time the action picked up, no one gave a damn anyway. It plays like a 1950's film noir detective film...except for one small problem: there is no detective! Rent Devil in a Blue Dress with Denzel Washington, and avoid this yawn.
The Full Monty
Okay, my husband refused to see this film. Why? I don't know. It was GREAT!!!! It was funny in the right places, and made a few good points about self-image and love. It is a british film, and therefore is lacking in guns and car chases (I think we just figured out why Greg won't see it)but it makes up for it in plot and just plain fun! Rent it, or catch it's re-release.
The Big Leboski
Do you like the Cohen Brother's Movies? I do. All that I've seen anyway. I prefer the comedies, like Raising Arizona, and Fargo. Blood Simple was good, but not quite my type of a film. This one tops them, in its own way. It's funny, it's about nothing, and it's wonderful. I like Steve B. (I can't spell his last name, I'll look it up later), John Goodman was fantastic, and it wouldn't have been right without the main character (okay, brain fog, will fix it too). It's great, wonderful, and funny as hell. Plus, well, Sam Eliot..what more can I say? See it!
