Team History

The Wrentham Rocketeers are coached and owned by Todd Hester. In their first season under Coach Todd Hester, they made it to the Conference Championship game, but lost in overtime to the Monterey Bay Sea Lions. The next season, Wrentham won the conference, but lost the World Bowl to defending champion Hawaii. Wrentham has high expectations for this season.

Wrentham Players

Coaching
Wrentham is coached by Todd Hester. In two years as head coach, Todd has an overall record of 18-8, including playoffs.

Offense
Wrentham's offense is led by the 1998 rookie of the year quarterback John Dutton. Wrentham's receiving corps is very different from last year. Sean Dawkins is now the number one receiver because Herman Moore was signed away by Memphis. Also, Brian Roberson has beaten out Joey Galloway for the number 2 spot and is challenging Dawkins for his job. During the offseason, Wrentham signed Pro Bowl TE Ernie Conwell, who will be starting ahead of TE Keith Cash. Keith Cash should still get a lot of playing time. Wrentham decided not to resign Pro Bowl HB Barry Sanders, instead they signed free agents Eddie George and Terry Kirby. Eddie George will start the season, but Kirby should also play quite a bit. The fullback duties are split between Fred McCrary and Brian Edmunds. Wrentham's offensive line is changed this year too. Wrentham drafted Kane Lester and he will start at tackle with Pro-Bowler Tony Boselli. KC Jones is the center and Pro-Bowlers Mark Stepnoski and Keith Sims are the guards.

Defense
Wrentham's starting defensive linemen are the same as last year: Brad Culpepper, Jared DeVries, Santana Dotson, and Mark Wheeler. Wrentham cut veteran LB Chris Spielman from the team and starting in his place are Damien Covington or Eddie Robinson. The other starting linebackers are Willie McGinest and Jason Chorak. The starting safeties are still Andre Cooper and Sam Madison. Wrentham's probowl cornerback Fred Thomas was also signed away, but was replaced with free agent Stan Seale. Seale will be starting alongside Bracey Walker and Tyrone Hughes.

Special Teams
Wrentham has great special teams. They are punter Darren Bennett, kicker John Carney, and returners Bracey Walker and Stan Seale.

New Players
Wrentham has had many changes this year. Wrentham's pro bowl halfback, Barry Sanders, has left the team. However, he has been replaced by a younger, faster, and more agile running back, Eddie George. After Memphis signed away Herman Moore, Wrentham signed Sean Dawkins to replace him. Dawkins is about equally skilled with Herman Moore, but he's two years younger. Wrentham's WR Brian Roberson had a great training camp and will be taking over the other starting receiver spot from Joey Galloway. Roberson is more agile and can sprint faster than Galloway can. During the offseason this year, Wrentham signed pro bowl TE Ernie Conwell. Conwell is younger, faster, and much more agile then TE Keith Cash. Cash will remain on the team as a backup tight end. Wrentham's first draft pick this year was OL Kane *Lester. *Lester is very strong and should be a great improvement to the offensive line. Wrentham was forced to cut aging linebacker Chris Spielman this year so that they could stay under the salary cap. Spielman has been replaced by his former backup, linebacker Damien Covington. Covington is faster and has better hands. Wrentham's pro bowl cornerback, Fred Thomas, was also signed away this year. He is being replaced by free agent CB Stan Seale. Seale is much more agile than Thomas and can sprint faster. Wrentham is a much improved team with these changes, especially with the huge changes at halfback and in the receiving corps. Wrentham hopes to return to the World Bowl, but with a different outcome this time, a victory!
