PBeM: Keeper of the Seven Keys

This is where information on my PBeM campaign can be found.

Legend tells of the Seven Keys, the keys that locked evil into seven seas around the land. The Keeper of the Seven Keys was rumoured to be a hermit who lived in the mountains, in a remote location unknown to anyone.

One by one, the various evils began returning to the land, indicating that one by one, the keys were being stolen from the hermit's possession. With no one knowing the location of the hermit's home, no one could find out why or how the keys were being stolen.

Now, all evils have been released, much in the fashion of Pandora's Box. A call has gone out for adventurers to find these keys, then find the hermit, and return the evils to the seas.

Each key is different, being made out of different materials. No one person knows the composition of all seven keys, save for the old hermit. Rumours in taverns and inns tell of someone who knows the whereabouts of the hermit's home, but no names seem to arise from these tales.

To top everything off, with the loss of the seven keys and the return of evil, somehow magic has gone wild. All magic has become unpredictable (with the exception of clerical magic), and there is a chance every time a spell is cast that it will backfire, with wild results. Many people now fear magic, and most cities now persecute those who use magic by public execution, either burning at the stake or beheading. (This should not discourage magic use. This should add mystery and creativity to the game.) Those caught using magic that get away become outlaws.

And now, the call goes out for the heroes who will save the land, locking evil away, this time for good.
