Footbag, also called Hacky Sack, is a game based on the idea of keeping the footbag off of the ground, using mainly your feet and lower body. Although challenging, it is very fun. The basic footbag game is where all of the players get in a circle. One player tosses the footbag to another, and they start to kick the footbag around. If every player touches the bag once before it hits the ground, that's a hack. The object is to get as many hacks as possible and to have as much fun as possible. There are many variations of the basic game:

• Elimination - Whoever messes up and lets the footbag touch the ground is out, and the game restarts with a toss. The last person left in is the winner.

• Murder Hack - Once the footbag has been kicked five times in the circle, someone grabs the footbag and immediately throws it at another player. If you get hit by a thrown footbag three times, you are out. The last player left in is the winner.

• Eight Ball - The object of this game is to get eight points. 1 point is scored for each time you kick the footbag. Stalls are worth 5 points and rolling the footbag along your body is worth three points. The first player to reach eight points wins and the game starts over.

• Strikes - A "strike" is scored against any player who misses the footbag. If it goes between their legs while they are trying to kick it, (a "Figure 4"), they get three strikes.

  When someone has got a total of three strikes, they turn around and are beaned with the footbag. I don't like this game, but some of my friends do.

• Tricks - Not a competitive game, the object is to do a trick every time you receive the footbag.

• Stalls - Not competitive. The object is for one person to stall the footbag, and then pass it to another person who stalls the footbag WITHOUT KICKING IT FIRST, who passes it to another, etc.
